Unhappy 2 killed in Impreza RS Rollover

sorry...
this is not intended to start a flame war... merely to educate

this just happened last night in the Seattle area. We (locals) dont know if the car belonged to one of our own or not...

<IMG SRC="http://www.komotv.com/news/images/fatal_crash_041601.jpg" border=0>

Quote:
KING COUNTY - Two people are dead after an early morning car accident in Auburn.

It happened just after 1 a.m. Monday at 320th and Lee Hill Road. Police aren't saying much about the cause of the accident except that one of the two cars involved rolled over killing two at the scene.

Two other people were injured. One had to be flown by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. They were both in satisfactory condition.

Auburn Police and King County deputies are investigating and say the two cars may have been racing at the time of the crash.
please guys... it's not worth it to show someone else that your car is faster... think!!! it's your LIFE you are playing with.

doesnt matter to me if i know this person or not... it still makes me sick to my stomach. because 2 people died... and they had a mom and a dad and friends who loved them... now they are gone... gone!!
all for "speculated" street race?

*shaking head*

doesnt make sense to me. please be careful out there...

j.

Oh my. Looks like they used the Jaws of Life to rip open the roof!

That's the problem with our cars....they handle quite well that we take it too far. Once it looses control....the speed is well beyond the "fender bender" stage.

that's really sad.....it doesn't matter if they're a member of i-club or not....just the fact that a street race involving deaths is not worth it....in fact like subiegal said trying to prove that your car is fast on the street is not worth risking your life....

Why would you assume they were street racing? It doesn't say that and even the dumbest street racers don't do it with 3 passengers. It just says there were 2 cars involved in an accident. Somebody could have run a stop light and the Impreza swerved to miss them, hit a curb or ditch and rolled. It doesn't take a super high speed to roll a car, just physics. You could roll a car at 35 mph and have the roof cave in like that killing occupants.

I'm not saying that street racing is perfectly safe. I'm just saying that more people get killed that aren't racing than are. The anti-street racers in this club have made it their goal to convince everyone of how dangerous street racing can be. But at the same time, they're not telling you how dangerous driving is in general. Let me tell you, I've seen a lot more people killed that weren't even braking any laws than those that were doing something illegal. You gotta watch out for the other guy.

I've totaled two cars in my life now, once going 10 mph under the speed limit and the other time going around 5 mph in a parking lot. Both times, I could have been seriously injured if I wasn't wearing my seatbelt or if the car was at a slightly different angle.

This is truly tragic. I hope that they weren't racing. Not a good idea with 4 people in the car Oh well, I wasn't there so I can't say. Driving, by nature, is dangerous. Maybe they were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Via con dios.

What percentage of the driving population street race? Considering the number of people who drive the streets day to day, it's not unusual to see a lot of accidents. The number of people who street race is likely a small percentage (I assume) of the driving population, so naturally you will see a lot less accidents from street racing. You still increase the risk for yourself and others when you street race. You can't eliminate all risks in life, but you can reduce them by making wise choices.

This is not a debate on the safety of street racing. This is to inform all I-Club members that someone in our community has passed on. Racing or not someone has been killed.

And also I believe that we don't like to talk about street racing is because we don't encourge that, and don't want to give a bad image to the public that subaru driver are into street racing! If you wanna race, autox, track day or all kind of rally are the choices.
