Default Final Date for Mega Colossal Meet: Sunday, 8/13/06

I had to move this event by a day from my earlier post -- I hope I didn't mess up too many people.

The Mach V Mega Colossal Meet will happen on Sunday, August 13, 2006.

This will be our first charity event, with proceeds going to benefit Big Brothers/Big Sisters of the National Capital Area.

This will also be our first official car show, with prizes for Best Engine Bay, Best Exterior, and Best of Show, plus a bonus prize for Car We'd Most Like to Own Ourselves. There are separate classes for Forester and Legacy too, plus one for pre-2002 Imprezas. If you don't have a Subaru, there will be classes for other cars, too.

There'll be a voluntary $10 donation to attend. Registration for the car show will be $25 in advance, $45 the day of the show. Call us at (703) 435-5000 to pre-register.

Car show setup will be from 9 am to 10 am, with the event beginning at 10 am and lasting until 4pm. The coveted show trophies will be awarded starting at 4pm.

I'll have a car show registration form up shortly, and I'll post more details along the way.

Update: Recently added the First Annual MAIC Hamburger Eating Contest (!)

Location is the Mach V/Ultimate Performance shop, located at:

45064-B Underwood Lane
Sterling, VA 20166

I'll still be able to make it there Dan. I take it the will be $10 a person not per car? Will you be doing any dynoing that day? A few of the guys around here
where asking me, and i was not sure if you where or not.

Yes. That's a suggested donation, in the spirit of raising money for Big Brothers/Big Sisters. You will not be required to donate, although if you don't I don't think we'll be giving you any free stuff.

To make sure we put on a decent car show, we're not going to do any dynoing that day.

Sorry, I can't manage and staff a car show and a dyno day at the same time. We'll have another dyno day sometime after, maybe late August.

Thanks for hosting this Dan. Charity meets are ESPECIALLY cool. I probably won't make it as I have an underway before the event until friday and then get back underway the following monday for a few days. Doubt sneaking off will pass for the wife. You have paypal for donations for those that cannot attend though?

This reminds me that I need to set up our Scoobys helping Scoobys Meet for the ASPCA.

Yes, they'll be in the same class. Don't worry, though, there will be no disadvantage to being either car...

Impossible to get lost with my high-quality professional maps!

(Made them myself. Can you tell?)

Bonus Mach V goody to the best replacement for the crude images above... use of "-izzle" or "-xorz" encouraged.

Dan, have you thought of possibly having a Biggest Caravan award or some sort? Caravans always happen before your meets, coming from all sides of MAIC for your thing..HR, Gaithersburg, CP, NoVA...just a thought I woke up with a couple nights ago. Nice drawing.

So, what do I get?

Expect my pre-2002 Subaru in your show, btw. Also, which category would Dave's RSTi be in? It's a 2000 chassis with 2004 everything else.

The judges are telling me it's the chassis that dictates the class. So, RuSTi would be pre-2002.

This is what we're planning so far:

Pre-2002 Subaru
- Best exterior
- Best engine bay

WRX
- Best exterior
- Best engine bay

Legacy (all years)
- Best exterior

Forester
- Best exterior
- Best engine bay

Non-Subaru cars:
- Best exterior
- Best engine bay

Everything
- Best of show
- Car We'd Most Like to Drive

There will probably be three trophies for each category, other than Best of Show and CWMLtD, which will just be one. We may come up with some other categories in the interim.
