Default No more Impreza sedan??!!

I just read in Road&Track (pg.24)Aug.06, Subaru is possibly planning to X the sedan version of the impreza for a 3 or 5 door hatchback version. It doesn't say "add" a hatchback, it says "switch"! They show a mock pic of an Sti in the new hatchback trim. I guess it doesn't look that bad for a hatchback, but damn! I just can't see Subaru gettin rid of the sedan altogether.....

Yeah, but it will be a good platform for WRC. Better than the car they have now. Smaller wheelbase and less overhang = faster.

It may be a good idea for the WRC team, but from a sales standpoint I think it'd be a mistake. Besides us enthusiasts, people who buy Imprezas buy them because they mix the practicality of an all wheel drive sedan with the performance of a sports car. A small 3 door hatch will make it less desirable to those who need the room for the kids or whatever. It'll also be a turn off to those who just plain hate hatches. I'll stick to my sedan....I hate getting out to let people in the back!!

I certainly wouldn't own an Impreza if it was only offered in 2 or 3-door format. This is a mistake if true.

Well, that, and the fact that the Citroen is bulletproof.
