The inner harbor is definitely nice. Lots of things to see right there including things mentioned like the parliament buildings, royal museum, wax museum, Empress hotel. I also liked miniature world. If you include Butchart Gardens, that's already more than a day's worth of activities.
Is it their first time in Victoria? I would see the gardens first in the morning, then go to the harbor to see the Empress Hotel, maybe a tour of the Parilament buildings (if they are open on weekends). Then either Royal Museum and/or Wax museum depending on time (and energy). That would hit the major touristy stuff. Dinner at one of the restaurants along the harbor would be nice too. The horse carriages are nice too in the evening for a general after dinner tour of downtown. |

I'd leave early in the morning to maximize time. If they are into Butchart Gardens they could probably enjoy most of the day exploring there. (I was at Van Dusen gardens on Oak with some relatives the other day and we almost spent the whole day there.) For me, I'd try to keep the gardens to the morning. It's not the best time of year for lots of flowers anyway but it's still nice and world famous. There should be some where nice to eat lunch there.
Downtown, my relatives were happy to see the Empress and the Parliament buildings from outside and snap pictures. They had no real interest to going inside. The wax museum is manageable in a short time and is interesting. I would skip the Royal Museum even though more interesting for me (because I wanted to go slow and explore everything)--but, my relatives (not reading much English) were not as interested. They did like seeing the minature museum (they had kids). They were also into boats so they enjoyed the Maritime museum. I wouldn't try to see too many things. That way you can have an earlier dinner, enjoy the inner harbor (usually lots of street performers) and have plenty of time to make the ferry back. It shouldn't be bad because it's mid-weekend. |

The gardens will take atleast 3 hours min to go around the whole thing. from their I'd head down to the inner harbour spend a good hour walking around taking in the sites, while your right there you have the B.C museum, Wax museum, hourse carrage's. and then a nice drive along dallas rd out by the brake water.

we're planning to take the 8am ferry from twassen... then when we arrive, first thing is butchart gardens, after that, i think i'm headding into downtown, walk around, have lunch, then chinatown... if that doesn't take up the whole day, then i have nothing else planned... i think i should be taking the ferry in the late afternoon back, maybe around 5ish? if those destinations doesn't take up 10-5, then i dono what else to do...
on a side note, i'll be taking my aunts mazda3, they don't want my STI!!!.... lol but i dont want to drive my STI for such long trips anyways... 1st they think it's loud, 2nd it's not too comfratable for back seat passengers, 3rd i dont like driving manual for WHOLE DAY lol... |

I know it's a bit late for input, but you can take them shopping down town Victoria and just that alone is groovy.. Get a picture taken of everyone in a wild-west scene wearing wild-west clothes.. We even have a huge 2 story christmas store that flogs christmas 365 days a year! Nothing more crazy than stepping out of the hot sun downtown and walking into the north pole.

well yea the idea was kinda late, but it went pretty well... the only bad thing was i woke up at 7am, which was suppose to be the time i should be in front of my relatives doors to pick them up, lol, ended up at their door by 7:15, then picked up my uncle from Raddisen hotel, then started headding towards twassen... gay thing was, the Mazda 3 was sooo under power, it was hella slow(3 adults, and me in the car, and i'm not thin nor skinny, u should know what i mean) so the car was hella slow off the line... got to twassen right at 8am, which the ferry left already, so ended up taking the 9am ferry... other than that, it was a pretty good day...
i didn't know the mazda3 with the 2.3 liter engine was that horrible... but i guess for a girl to own it, it's more than enough... but i think i'm comparing it to my sti... so i'm stupid... lol |
