I'm looking for any owners of the 2000 Legacy who have made modifications. I've been considering doing the standards, intake, exhaust, sway bars and possible wheels and suspension. If anybody has done anything, how has it turned out?

Jim (euroauto) will chime in here pretty quick... he has done the most (as far as this group goes, I think) Check out His List.
I've just started (as money allows)... K&N Filter, DYI Intake mods (the 2000s have a *reall* good intake setup to begin with), and a "performace" muffler. I may be getting the KYB shocks, but we are still unsure if the KYBs from the 98-99 Legacy will fit the 2000s. I have heard around the campfire that we don't need a rear strut-tower bar, but a front strut-tower bar and a 18mm sway bar help quite a bit.... Of course Euroauto will have lots to say, considering he has *many* more mods... ![]() A |

Check out the Legacy members list. The mods listed there should give you a good idea of what's been done.

OK Here we go.
STI Engine and Trans mounts best mod for cost! STI four piston brakes great Some sort of free flow exhaust works well, Borla headers do help the top end. K&N air filter and opening the air box help just a bit more. Good tires help alot also. I do want to hear about Andy's new Factory muffler. Hope this helps. jim |

Got the muffler installed... *very* pretty... chrome 2.5" tip (can't really see it, but it says '2.5 GT' on the turned-down end)... sound is very mellow, almost as quiet as stock, but you know it is there at higher RPMs... Have not took it out to test it under load (I'll report back later tonight).
Install was a cinch... took me an hour, but that is considering that I used a 14mm socket and a pair of pliers (I need more tools!). I'll take more pictures when light allows... First Impressions (after dinner, quick drive): Sound is great, but actually pretty quiet. Not as growly or as noticable as the Stromung, rather 'civil'. This is the best complement to removing the intake silencer and adding the K&N, the sound is very balanced now, and high-end has really opened up. I just looped around my 'hood, so I could not really open it up and get on it, but I am very happy to say the least. ![]() A [This message has been edited by RandyF (edited August 08, 2000).] |

How about some pics, Andy?
I'd like to see how it looks. (Edit) Oops, didn't see that one sentence in the middle of your post about waiting for more light. Bob [This message has been edited by bobski (edited August 09, 2000).] |

Yeah... I'll try to get some tonight... I live on the east side of a hill and on the west side of the street, so by the time I get home my apartment and carport are in full shade and quite dark. I was (and still am) running at about 65% this morning, or I would have taken the pics this morning... I'll try again tomorrow...

The STI mounts stiffen the front end and stops the clunking. Also forgot to mention the strut tower brace helps a lot.

Thanks for all the replys. I'm on the East Coast (Baltimore, MD) and looking for a good shop. I've seen some work done by RalliSpec in New Jersey. They make a really nice cone filtered intake.
Let me ask a question of euroauto or anybody else. What improvement do you get from the engine and tranny mounts? My last car was an Integra Type R. It was pretty much the best you could get stock. I wrecked it. Hydroplane, 360, utility pole. I'm trying to make my 2000 Legacy GT a little bit stiffer all around. Also RalliSpec says the don't do a cat-back exhaust system for the Legacy. Anybody know of somebody on the East Coast that does? |
