Default Trouble with boost dropping while Auto-Xing (UPDATE 7/15)

I run an accessport with the stx map when autocrossing. During the last 3-4 races, I've have problems after the first run where the boost will only go to .5 bar while on course. After resetting the ECU, it works fine. And I've never had a problem while driving regularly.

Could it be the ECU, a vacu leak, a bad fuel pump or something?

At this last event, it didn't happen until my fourth run of the day and only after spinning (it was raining and my rex is VERY stiff). After the spin, the boost was 1/2 normal. I reset the ecu before the next run and the next 2 runs were fine (BTW, it was a BMW event so 7 runs total).

What could this be?

update
Running auto-x today with the stx map. Got a check engine light after my first run. Checked the code with the accessport and got p0328 (knock sensor high)
What's going on?

it might be switching over to a low det map. I'm no expert, but sounds like the ecu is compensating for something to protect the engine.

I'd say the first thing to do is check for leaks.

To high det map in any case. You could try logging with ECUexplorer, if that were the case you would see you IAM go equal or bellow 4 i think.

I think if there was an exhaust leak I would be able to hear it. Plus i don't think that would be the case since once I reflash the ecu, everything is fine again...

And blindstiff, I have no idea what any of that stuff is...

Im guessing you have or can find a laptop to use, so go to: http://www.tari.co.za/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl and download ECU Explorer. This will allow you to datalog using your accesport cable. That should help you pinpoint the problem.
IAM = Ignition advance multiplier. Its this magical number that goes up when you car is working fine and advances timing to make more power, when there is detonation or other problems the IAM drops. It ranges from 0 to 16. Once it reaches 4 your car will switch over to high detonation map and your car will drive slowly in comparison to stock.

IC has ice on it all the time. Mods are UP and TBE. Ran the STX map all last year with no problems.

bump. anyone help? Could this be related to my coilovers? I'm wondering if it's the g's making the engine run lean or something. I run with ~1/2 tank gas so hopefully not fuel starve.

your engine is knocking and your ECU is pulling boost to compensate. Are you running the appropriate gas for the map (IIRC that map is desinged for 100 octane gas)?

There's 2 maps, STX for 91 oct and one for 93. I have a WRX, not an STI. And the gas I used last weekend was a mix of 100 octane and 91 (likely ended up around 96 octane). It's not the gas.

just because the map is offered by a retailer for free doesn't mean it's appropriate. Get a custom tune by someone that knows what they're doing and call it a day. The fact that your ECU goes back to normal boost after the reset is evidence of negative boost learning and possibly knock.
