Toyota also just recalled 160,000 Tundras... wonder what the guys who were scathing GM for the corvette recall have to say.

Will Nissan ever fix the engine self destruct issue the Sentra SE-Rs keep having? Seems like that car has had an issue like that described in the article since the last generation of it was introduced.

Went through the same thing with my 2004 Spec-V. The engine had to be replaced at 38,000 miles because of oil consumption. Biggest pile I ever owned, but made a good trade off for the Subaru.

It seems strange to me that this was an issue before with the SE-R, but not the Altima as it is the same motor. I have worked at a Nissan dealership for a little over 4yrs. and have yet to see a single customer complaint about excessive oil consumption.

The current recall has to do with Altima's and Spec-V's produced within a couple of months this year that could have a problem. Nissan originally discovered a problem with rental units that were not serviced correctly. Less than 1/10 of one percent of the cars produced had a problem, but Nissan is taking all the cars back and putting in a new engine.
