Default UTEC: If the cruise light is flashing....cruise control doesn't work?

So I've got a UTEC in my 04 STi. Its flashed the O2 slow read and some various MAF issue at me since I installed it. No big deal. However, it appears that the vehicle's ACTUAL cruise control doesn't work when the quasi CEL/cruise light flashes....

Is this correct behavior? Does the UTEC really disable/kill cruise control when the CEL/cruise is flashing?

edit: doh, sorry mods....please move to UTEC forum

It is not the Utec.
It is the stock ECU programming that disables the CC and starts the light flashing. The Utec can not "disable" CEL code in the ECU, it only stops the CEL light from lighting.

Yeah, the UTEC's CEL defeat doesn't actually do anything. Just kills the one light in the dash. You still have the CEL, and it still may affect your car.

I don't recommend using this UTEC feature. Fix the problem rather than cover it up.

That'd be terrific if the CELs weren't bogus. Slow O2 read and some crap about the MAF sensor. Apparently there's some firmware bug that'll just randomly like up the CEL for STi's and the UTEC. It just pissed me off because I had a 90 minute drive and I had to keep a steady foot. I had forgot how tiring that was. I'll just figure out a work around so the CC always works. Thanks TMS and Freon.

I've never had any intention of turning off the CEL indicator using the UTEC. Not sure where that was brought up. The car didn't generate any CELs prior to the UTEC, so I can only assume the UTEC is buggy and generating the issue. Oh well...
