Well, I was trying to prod those who are interested, not provoke those that aren't. Just like someone wouldn't necessarily try to get me to the drag strip.

I know some of the younger guys have been talking about trying it, and I just want to encourage them to ask questions or just take the plunge and try it. Starting something like this can be intimidating, with fast cars and fast drivers. You can't look at it that way though, when you're out on course, it's just you and the car. See what you and the car are capable of.

And, I'm seeing if I can prod some of those folks I know have done it and enjoyed it. If not, it's all good of course.

I don't have a fast car or super skills behind the wheel. But, I do have a blast. I'm a fairly shy person, and am glad I decided to try it and continue to participate. The SCCA crowd is a pretty helpful bunch. Ask for help, and you'll get it.

well thats the whole point, for me anyway. I'm not fast, don't have a fast car but I come out and have a good time. All of which you can have without trashing your ride. People are helpful and its a blast. I don't think you were trying to provoke anyone Jason and I see your points.

Come on if your going to spend all this money lowering your car, putting on front and rear sway bars and end links, low profile tires, strut bar... and then just drive on the streets? Come on... you chicken?

And you young punks? Brian, Turtle? Ready to go up against old men and women?

I understand it's a short-notice event, and summer days have many uses. But, if you're thinking about auto-xing, this is another good event to try it out. While Bartlett isn't my favorite site, it is a site in Anchorage. And there isn't another event for over a month.

If you're free Sunday, sign up! If you have questions, feel free to ask me or many of the other auto-x guys/gals on here.

(And sorry to call a few people out, but I do like watching nice cars out on course )
Believe me, I'm always hounding Maddog (pun ) to get out to an event!

LOL.

Sorry if my comment was provoking as oppossed to prodding. They tend to be one in the same though no?

All said here is dofully correct, the SCCA bunch is a great gaggle of people to chill with on a weekend day. All are good people willing to help you if you need it. What better way to spend a sunny sunday then hanging out with a bunch of gearheads.

It's probably all that traction generated by those race tires

Ben, no problem. Just trying to stay away from the "Hey Ricer, come out and learn to drive that car" thing, before it happened. That's been used before unsuccessfully. (Not that I don't mumble the same thing from time to time)

Auto-x is considered by many to be fun, an eye-opener, a challenge, etc. Sunday's event is local (for most), in a safe setting, and with lots of helpful people available.

Just trying to be the nice, encouraging guy. Of course, part of me wants fewer people to show so I can get more runs.

There were only 19 people signed up when I checked a little while ago. Surely that'll increase by Sunday, but maybe we'll get more than 6 runs.

Um, anyone else going to go?

Sorry all, But I have a semi-required fishing gig with my boss. Swattin' mosquitoes isn't the best, but ya' gotta do what ya gotta do. I'm leaving to see the wife on Tuesday as well. I'll be back JUST in time to hop in the STI and make it for the Porsche club gig next Sunday. See you then!

I believe the Porsche club autocross is rescheduled for the 30th. Still (always) at Bartlett.
