Given the obstacles, the event went smoothly. Too bad my driving wasn't as smooth.
I have more than enough tar goo stuck to my tire treads. ![]()

My girlfriend gets bored and usually only takes pictures of my car. Feel free to ask her to take some of you, I'm sure she would.
My best time was 0.006 faster than my first run. This is typical of me at Bartlett. |

![]() my best time was my seconed to last run. my run times fluctuated a lot. i just couldn't "get it". and when i did, i blew it in the turn around by locking up the break. On a side note, my ABS works great! hahaha. |

busy summer right now...and i tried to get as many pics of people as possible except those in our run group. that was tough! or if you had runs near mine or phil's, trying to get pics or vids was almost impossible. |

that's cool take your time. just drop me a line whenever you get to it. thanks in advance. yeah, it's hard takin' pictures of people when you're trying to go. someone gripped at me for taking pictures at a corner during a fun run. which, is oay. 'cause it is a saftey issue. so, whatever you got I'm thankful for. |

Great time out there today though I found the course really slick in the morning. Something about the combination of tar marbles and dust took my car's handling to pretty much nothing. I was sliding a lot when my tires were turned. My best times of the day were in the afternoon. I think everyone did pretty awsome. Sure sucks the pool was open and we didn't get the whole parking lot.

Ugh. I hit a 47.0 my first run, so logically, I should have gotten to the high 45's at least by my last runs. At the last event at Raceway Park, I took almost 2.5 seconds off my first time. Today, 0.006 seconds. I have issues at Bartlett, and am never comfortable there. The tar just made it worse. A couple times I was sure I hit a cone, but it was just tar chunks ripping off and hitting my flaps.
I can't go to Bartlett and expect to leave satisfied. If the August event is held there, either I won't bother, or I'll go to plan b. I can't afford to do any more suspension work on my car this summer, so maybe I'll kidnap the silver bullet. Aside from my personal frustration, I was proud of the event organizers and contributors. This event was like clockwork. And the course layout was good given the change in plans. |

DEFINITELY a great run event, I didnt get a critique sheet but I rank this a solid 9-10. it was a bit iffy in the morning with the swim meet. But it went REALLY well, and I think some VERY good publicity from those interested during the swim meets. (at timing I heard a gaggle of girls screeching abotu "oooo, I want that car" "LOOK, they're racing" ...)
Thanks to DentDude for a great event, and letting me see how cool my car runs :P |

and with that, it evens up the field a little more. it was a pretty slow course really, considering that the best times were in th 42 sec range. most people hung around our 47-48 sec range and a few that were up to 50+ sec. with the exception of the veteran drivers, seemed to be pretty even steven on times. makes it a bit more competitive. even still, for me it's about learning to drive my car better and in just about any situation. can't have a perfect driving surface or course in your day to day travels. if you're there strictly for the competition, then it will be one excuse after another... my car isn't fast enough (even though Clint and Kenny both prove that it isn't the car that makes them fast but it certainly helps on the low end), i don't have the right suspension (it does help and i've used this one), the ground is too slick (except that everyone else is driving on the same pavement and have the same course), my tires suck (i've also used this myself), etc. truth is that it's really about the driver and understanding the line of the car, when to use power and when not to, when to turn, how to turn, smoothness and keeping the car going where you want it and not where it wants it. i'm just now (ya, late bloomer) beginning to understand this and my times are going down a little more each race. I'm learning to become more disciplined and precise rather than throttle hungry and brake happy (even though it's still fun, but your times suck!). if you went to the Houston Event, Bartlett is much much better! there's a reason why they are giving us a $10 credit for those attenders. it more than SUCKED! |

i hear ya. I thought it was a great event and everything went swimingly--no pun intended. I had a hard time adjusting to the track and course. but i was learning as I went each time. once I started to figure things out, with some help and suggestions things went way better for me in the later runs. |

The change in season points makes it look like I'm cleaning up.
Yes, I should have had a rider with me, because I can't figure Bartlett out. Even with my "slow is fast" attempts, I either broke even or was slower. And I was hitting cones like crazy, also not like me. I hear you Hope. That's why I started this stuff in rally-x. And honestly, I didn't mind Houston, because I wanted to see how my car would auto-x in the rain. Last year, the site was fine, but it was before the tar strips went down. Speaking of tar strips - holy crap, 2-3 times yesterday, the wheel was ripped out of my hands because of them. And in general, I was fighting the car on every turn, like my power steering was messed up. I know I have a body roll/understeer issue, but at Bartlett, it's even worse. I don't expect to roll with the fast kids. I just want to come out of an event feeling like I accomplished something. For me, it's night and day between Bartlett and Raceway Park. If the next event is at Bartlett, maybe I'll split my runs between having a rider and having someone drive my car and get feedback both ways. Otherwise, there are better things for me to do, summer's going by too quickly. |
