Default WRX vendors are annoying me.

I've been a participant in motorsports, and modifying cars for almost 20 years now.. and I have to say by far, my worst luck has been dealing with Subaru vendors. Not naming names here, but recently I have ordered several thousand dollars in parts from various vendors.. and I can only think of maybe one vendor I've not been dissatisfied with. The problems range from mostly downright lying about parts availability, to misleading me about products either in quality or time to availability. I'm at my wits end here - and I just needed to vent for a moment.

The point of this forum *IS* to review vendors though- unless you're reviewing a vendor (ie: naming names ) you're just venting and that can be done elsewhere .

Yep - (elsewhere?) anyway I'm reluctant to name my complete list at the moment because several still owe me items.

Pooka,

I can relate.

DMS-USA:
I had a set of DMS-40ís on order with DMS-USA.
I was told a week to 10 days. It took 6 weeks.
In there defense, I ordered them a week before Sep 11, so some delay was inevitable, butÖ..during that time, I was never able to get DMS-USA to look into getting information as to when they would arrive. He just simply stated that he would look into it and get back to me. He never did. After I got board of waiting and tried to cancel the order, he ignored my first request. On the second request to cancel, he replied but seemed confused as to why I would want too and didnít cancel the order.
I ended up calling DMS in Australia to get the info I needed and eventually did get the order.

I have no doubt that DMS-USA, AKA Dave Clark is a good person that means well. Saying that, I also believe that if he wants to be the main USA importer for DMS products, he needs to shelve some of his other activities and focus on the business.

Conclusion: I wonít be doing business with DMS-USA again. DMS yes, but not through DMS-USA.

Rally Spec:
I ordered over the phone a set of break pads. That was several months ago.
I havenít seen them, but also have not been charged for them. They must have lost the order.

SubaruParts.com
I ordered a rear bar for the WRX wagon from their Internet site.
I never got the order, never got charged and never got a reply requesting info on where the order is.
Whatís up with thatÖ

Yup, some vendors are a little less than focussed, but on the other hand, others have been great to deal with.

TireRack:
I spoke to Luke on the phone, asked questions and ordered some tires and wheels. They arrived 1 day early in perfect condition.

M2:
I ordered some suspension bits from M2.
The fellow who took the order, Jason, answered all the questions I had to the best of his ability and where he did not have answers, he got them and got back to me when he said he would.
The parts order should arrive early next week and if it does, I will gladly do business with M2 again.

In all, I donít think many, is any vendors are purposely out to screw any one. I just think many are small shops staffed with enthusiasts that are not that business orientated.

Just my experiences and opinions.

Dale has a good point, we promised him a set of Zerosports Wing adapters. We said we would have to order them. So we did from JAPAN. We said a week. It has been almost 2 and the will ship overnight to you when they get here on my dollar just so you can have them. The problem is that when stuff needs to be ORDERED from overseas about 15% of the time from Us and on Us is slightly delayed by a week at the most. They have been shipped to us and with higher security, customs issues, and a general long ass trip, it takes time. Normally this does not happen.

As for other vendors, I think if you read our vendor feedback and talk to ANYONE that has purchased from us, we have satisfied them and continue to satisfy them. The is why I will overnight them to you. At least it is not like some vendors, I prefer to be called a TUNER, and I do not say 1 week and it becomes 3 months.

So in the end, you did not even mention my name but I already know that I have caused a minor problem and will completely take care of the situation. Even more at least I said something about it so you and the public knows how we try to expedite and satisy situations!

Thanks!

Dan

Default understand

I can certainly understand overseas shipping delays - been there done that. And thanks Vivid for doing what you can to expidite my order, I appreciate that.

The straw that broke the camels back was when I ordered some DMS struts from M2 (yep, I'm naming a name) - after numerous poor experiences with other vendors I resorted to calling and saying very clearly what my expectatons where. I was told when I called M2 that they had the DMS struts IN STOCK, only one set left so I ordered them that instant on the phone so to get them. A week or two goes by so I contact them to find out what the tracking number is to find out where they are.. the message back is they haven't arrived from overseas yet (what?!) So basically I was lied to. This is something I have absolutely NO tolerance for - especially when somebody has charged $1800 to my credit card. It has crossed my mind to chargeback and order from someone else. I have been patiently waiting though.

I have had problems with other vendors to, and as was pointed out - I don't believe anybody is out to screw anybody, so I won't name those specifically. M2 is another issue.. I don't like being outright lied to.

I have however recently had very good experiences most recently with godspeed, machv, optauto, and turboxs (of course i was on a list for the unichip for a long time, but he at least gave me a very specific date - i have nothing but good things to say about Mark @ turboxs though). Note that not all of these are really wrx specific. I've ordered stuff from summit racing, porterfield and many others too with greater success than wrx vendors.

The poor quality vendor list is much longer.

dale

edit: I have ordered two different things on from subaruparts.com on seperate occasions.. I received both in a fairly timely manner. A set of 4 pot brakes I ordered were missing 3 of the 4 pins I needed to finish assembly, I called and they had them to me within a few days.. I am on the east coast, and they are on the west so I think that was pretty good. They aren't the speediest but have proven pretty reliable to me so far.

OK, Dale. I thought and was being honest because you might have had a problem with us. It least I spoke up. I will take care of you when they ship.

Hi Pooka,

The M2 units I ordered arrived today, right on schedule.
I read your post and saw the bit about one pair IN STOCK. This is the same thing I was told. Right after reading it I got a nasty sinking feeling, butÖ.there hereÖ.

Any way, it will be interesting to see the difference between the standard 40ís and the M2 40ís in real terms on the car.

Nice. What date did you order yours? I ordered mine 10/8 and still have not received them yet. The last email I got from him on the 22nd said he would ship them the next day (from Jason Whipple). I still haven't seen them.

dale

edit: I received a phone call from Jason this evening from SEMA stating that he'd gotten word I hadn't received them yet. He said they were shipped when he said they were and according to their tracking I should have received them today. UPS didn't deliver them today though - so perhaps I will have them tomorrow. I'm waiting on the tracking number at the moment.

Phooka,

I ordered mine last Wednesday or Thursday and asked that they be sent UPS 3 day.
In the past, it has taken UPS Ground 10 days to get packages from Calif to me on the East Coast. Specifying the UPS service, i.e. 3 day, makes a huge difference.

As to your order, Iím glad Jason called you. I was speaking to the owner of M2 this evening about the product and mentioned this thread. Looks like he called JasonÖÖitís a good sign that there was follow up.
Any way, I have a good feeling about M2. I hope I am right as it would be nice to have a vendor that has a complete WRX package that really performs.

I'm certainly willing to give them a chance - but at this point it's getting silly. Apparently they shipped it FedEx (NEVER ever ship anything FedEx). FedEx apparently can't find my house. Impressive huh? They have delivered many things to me in recent weeks - and now they can't find my house. I did get the tracking number, and indeed they can't find my house - they have my package in the wrong freaking city. It's become a comedy of errors - I should be laughing at this point.

Default M2 ok

To set the record straight. I finally received my DMS golds from M2 today.. Well, to be more accurate - I tracked them down from FedEx and went to pick them up myself. Apparently somebody got the street address misspelled wrong so FedEx couldn't find me.

However.. All is well and good now. I even installed them today. Now if I can eliminate the noise in the rear I'll be happy.

What I really like is vendors who setup a group buy and then tell everyone it will be a few weeks. Then right around when those few weeks are up, almost nobody from the first GB has gotten their items yet, but the vendor starts a new GB for the same item. This kind of thing doesn't instill confidence in your customers.
