Default Alberta, Sask, Manitoba - 02 WRX prices

Hey everyone,

Been looking at a number of WRX's and it looks like the 02 or 03 is the closest to my price range. What kind of prices has everyone been seeing lately?

Looking at an 02 this weekend with 22000km, silver and supposedly mint condition. Asking $26,500 though. Been looking at Auto Trader and such and looks like you can get an 04 Limited Edition for that price in Calgary, but this is in Saskatchewan. Plus I don't know how it's been driven. My cousin knows him as well and says it's about as unmolested as you can find.

My 03 wagon is in the auto trader ( last editon ) 29900 41000 km turbo XS stage 4. The car has had a pretty easy life.

Forgot to mention that all these are Sedan's and that I want a completely stock WRX. Thanks for the suggestion easterwrx but I don't like the style of the wagon at all. Nice car though!

Have you considered buying a '06 WRX TR from across the border?

As far as price, your best bet is going to be Alberta. They're extremely hard to find in Manitoba, and pretty much every one I've seen in the Auto Trader is being sold by a used car dealer, and most likely imported from out East.

I imagine Saskatchewan is similar, with the used market being rare and expensive.

I've been looking at this as an option since 2 of the WRX's i've looked at have been imported from the states, and it seems fairly easy to get safetied in Canada. The problem I'm worried about is spending the time and money to go somewhere in the states, just to get there and find out the car is not as described. I guess this path would require A LOT of pictures and information before actually going down there.

Yes it is the same here. I called about one in the paper (located just outside of winnipeg) a couple days ago. 2004 with 11000kms imported from Indiana. They are asking 24,900 which is good, but did a Carfax and found it is a salvage AND the mileage has been reported as inaccurate.

I got an AWESOME deal, but...

2 years ago, I paid $25,700 for my 02 WRX sedan - bone stock, 36,000km.
It also had the Subaru OEM "aero kit" worth over $2000.

You should be able to do a lot better than that now, 2 years later.

If you buy it new from the US then there would be a lot less to worry about in terms of the history of the car, or the previous owner. The 'TR' has some of the 'luxury' items removed to lower the cost. Kind of like the 2.5i in Canada, except with the turbo'd drivetrain.

Is that what you did with your wagon?

My problem is $26/27 is the highest I wanna go before taxes and I want a sedan. I'm gonna see what kinda prices the 06's go for.

Yes, I bought mine in Seattle. Details are here

I think the '06 TR sedan would come close to your $27k before GST/PST, depending on the exchange rate. Just remember that they sell WRX in the states for Invoice or less. You can find the US invoice pricing for Subarus at http://cars101.com/

I just aquired a 2002 WRX Sedan in Winnipeg.

Bone stock, 81k, "rare" red colour (as far as I'm concerned).

It was listed for ~$23k at Vickar Chevrolet. All said and done, with my trade, deposit, 2yr/24000km warranty and a couple other little things and TAX, I paid $25k.

I'm satisfied. And from what I see, Manitoba easily has the highest prices out of the 3 provinces you mentioned.

Well I ended up getting the 02 WRX sedan I looked at this past weekend!

I was mistaken, it actually has 28,000 km but still quite low for being 4 years old already. It was in just too good of condition to pass up.
The only things i could find is a cracked pass. side fog light and 2 rock chips on the pass. side fender.
Interior doesn't have hardly a scratch and came with an Apex'i turbo timer, which I've read isn't necessarily needed, but also reads the A/F ratio, battery, and O2. Other than that, unmodded.
Mechanically perfect as far as I can tell.
He was the original owner, no accidents, said he used nothing but premium fuel and synthetic oil (after the break-in of the engine).
Pretty loaded with air, cruise, heated seats, power everything, keyless entry, standard 6-disc CD, etc.
Going to put up some pics in the member gallery tonight.

Ending up paying $26,000 + PST so $27,610 total.

NOW THE FUN BEGINS!

Here in Regina, Sask.
There isn't a lot of them here, especially ones for sale.

I'm QUITE happy with it so far and have driven 160kms in 2 nights just inside the city. That's ALOT for how big Regina is.

I've been so busy with work and changing the oil and cleaning it, that it keeps getting dark before I can take pics!!!!!!

Here's a couple anyways......

I'll take some pics in the daylight tomorrow and post them up.

Probably not we are still debating on camping for the long weekend.
If I did, I would prob just come out and watch as I want to learn how to drive this car before autocrossing it.
