Default Anyone in the St. Pete. area?

I will be moving to St. Pete soon. I got a new job. Can anyone suggest a relatively nice area to live?

My family is in St. Pete and I lived there from 1975 to 2000. Southside is not a place you'd want to live, and Kenneth city area is kind of hick town. Old Northeast area is nice and several other areas

I would say depends on how long you want your drive to be in the morning.

My job is located in Pinellas County, just off of 275 once you've crossed the causeway from Tampa. Thanks for warning me about the south side -- I had a couple of apartments lined up to be viewed.

I have been looking at a few places online in Pinellas County, as well as Largo, and Clearwater -- they aren't that far from work. Am I looking in the right areas?

My commutes have never been more than 15 minutes drive --- I like to keep it that way.

There are alot of good apartments around 4th street and Gandy Blvd. that are very close to where you describe your work as being, and it's a good area. You could also live just across the Bay in Tampa if you'd like, the commute into Pinellas in the morning would be easy as you'd be going the opposite way of all the traffic...same in the evening too.

That's funny. I did not consider Tampa because I did not want to cross the causeway fearing it was full of traffic in the morning and in the late afternoon. So is SW Tampa a good place to look?

I spoke to my uncle last night. He lives in Holiday, which I believe is north of Tampa. He also mentioned that the city of Tampa would be very nice especial around the Bayshore Blvd area. I imagine apartment rental is pretty pricey there but its worth a look.

I would love to get in a condo available as a rental -- that seems to be the trend these days.

Any other comments? Any??

I live in Largo (duh me, its in my profile!)... there's lots of newly-converted condo complexes in my area. Thankfully mine hasn't yet, or I'd be seriously homeless.

Actually, these days, the trend is that these newly converted condo places are starting to rent again because condo sales has slowed down. This is the type of unit I wish to rent but no one advertises that they are renting their condos because they still want to sell them.

So far, the plan is to view a couple of units in South Tampa (3 on Westshore Blvd and a couple of others), then cross the bay via W Grandy Blvd and view a couple of units there.

We'll see
