anyone want to help me here? Looking at my budget, I'm not thinking I can afford my ideal scooby of a 98/99 2.5 GT, so now I'm leaning on a 91-94 Legacy Turbo Sedan. Thats the 2.2 correct? What kind of aftermarket am I looking at being available? For the neon, the first upgrades are cold air intake, struts/springs, UDP, header, etc. For the subie, I want a five speed, relatively low miles, good running condition, I'm sure I am looking at well over a 100K mile car if I go with the 91-94 route. How do these motors hold up over time? Anything I should watch out for?
any help is greatly appreciated. PS..saw a blue or gray (hard to tell in overcast) the other day, loved the body style, not near as cool as the late nineties, but heck..a little grafting and a 97-01 Impreza hood scoop will fit. ![]() Erik also..what are the power specs etc of the 91-94 turbo cars...leg room (I'm six five)? pics? sorry this got so long...it all started out so simple. thanks in advance.

Had a little difficulty navigating those links...but read up on the Aussie version Liberty RS, I'm in love.
I've been reading these forums for about a month or so now...and I'm wondering since I havnt seen much of this generation of Legacy/LibertyRS, how many sold in the US, or how many are around to be found? The Liberty RS sold in Australia, sold as a Legacy here, does that mean the RS title was dropped?cool info though, I appreciate it. Erik...feels like Johny 5 from 'Short Circut' "innnnnnnnnnnput". ![]() |

There were about 15k Sport Sedans and about 3k Touring Wagons sold in the US.
It's called the Liberty RS in Australia because they had a copyright problem with Legacy. The engine isn't the same either, we got the weakest turbo you could imagine with one of the strongest engines Subaru ever made. |

Eric, I have been doing alot of surfing for after market parts for the BH5. I do not see alot of stuff for the Legacy Turbo. I would think that with the limited amount of cars SOA brought into the States combined with their age, and the fact that the 2.2T is not imported anylonger to the States does not bode well to finding alot of reasonable priced parts.

The Turbo's stock are pretty good. Can only imagine how a moded one would feel.. I'm still doing my own research on this car. Good Luck

I had a 93 Legacy Turbo Sport Sedan prior to my current 2.5 GT. IT WAS GREAT, I miss that car, it was a blast. I sold it at 124K? You're in for a lot more maint. expense w/ an older turbo vs. a newer GT... that's for sure.
The only major issue I had w/ mine was the clutch. It had problems when I got it... I had a new one put in 6mo before I sold it. Was expensive... and still had issues when driven real hard or in hot weather = slipping. Great car though... wish I could've afforded to have both. |
