Default can i get some rumble with no resonators?

my midpie is borked, the welds around the resonator have rusted out so i need to replace it. im think of having an exhaust shop make me a new one with no resonators.

so i would be running stock header, stock cats, and stock muffler on my 2.5 motor except without the resonators on the mid-pipe.

any ideas how this will affect the sound of my exhaust? i'd like some rumble sound out of it whilst trying to stay reasonably quiet for long trips.

It'll be slightly louder but you won't get much if any rumble with stock headers. You might not even notice the difference with stock everything else.

so i'd need to goto a borla header (or similar) for it to really rumble? im not looking for alot of rumble, just a bit of it and i dont think most aftermarket headers will clear my skid plate, which i'm not willing to give up due to some of the roads i have to drive on.

any other options?

Well, when I had my headers plus a modified WRX-catback Minus the resonator, I had alittle bit of a rumble but the muffler really kept it quiet. My cat section is still stock. Before I had the headers though I noticed no rumble at all. The stock headers do a good job of eliminating that.

If you need to replace it, why not straight pipe it. If its not what you want, then you can change out the muffler to a higher flow chambered muffler of some kind. I've got a pretty good burble out of my 2.2 with just a catback and $50 glass pack. Its too loud as far as long trips, but I don't do too many of them, and I plan to change the axle back section and go to a chambered muffler.

Some of the better exhaust shops will chop your exhaust and clamp different mufflers to the exhaust to give you an idea of their sound.

Here's a vid of mine to give you an idea. Its a 2.25" crush bent exhaust with an OBX universal glass pack.

I had the resonator removed in my 05 2.5rs and the sound difference wasn't very noticeable. I only noticed it the first few days and now I can't even tell.

i had to put on the stock muffler to pass inspection. I had stock header and cat, stromung midpipe w/o resonator to stock back box. The stock resonator made little difference, maybe it was a little more "honky" under full throttle... but i wouldn't call it rumble. The stock back keeps it real quiet.
