about the video... I just watched it again and I have them labled wrong. Hope is driving in the first one, its her LGT and I drove the LGT in the second one. I got the first one labled she's driving the Vibe. I'll get that corrected later.

Well I'll pay even more attention to your lines there Jason next time. Usually though we're in the same run group and either we're like one after the other or so far apart I'm getting ready to stage up and your doing a run. Maybe we can see if they will put us in different groups next time.

I welcome people's comments on my technique, or lack of it. I think this is a good place to discuss setups too. I'm curious about everyone's setups, and how their car feels to them as a result. I'd like to hear what worked on course, and what didn't. I need to buy Kevin a few beers and pick his brain.

Sometimes it's tough to figure out the Hope/Phil dynamic. You 2 are a trip.

There's been a lot of new excitement in auto-x this year, which is awesome. New people, new cars. I was impressed with the Crossfire.
well, we are unique that is for sure.

and that crossfire was pretty impressive. wasn't sure how it'd do, but give Dana a few more runs, i think he'd have broken into 43's.

definitely a lot of excitement this year. According to Cheryl Dana used to run with them back in the day and has returned. I hope he comes to more events. Hope and chris are definitely improving greatly, and Jason is always lookin good out there.

I need to start working on my tire pressures more, as well as my "look ahead". I did better looking ahead this weekend then last year, I think.. but not looking FAR enough ahead. Also my tires were a bit too much in the rear. I feel I couldve gained a second or 2 if I couldve gone quicker through the sweeper, however my rear wanted to swing out so I couldnt. lower pressure mightve helped gain just enough traction for me to carry it to the slalom. Not sure, might play with it next time.

once i figured out my shift points and making the slight change to my line was able to get the time i was aiming for most of the day...i ran the couse in first pretty much the whole way...i shifted into second after the turn around and then would down shift back into first just as i was braking to take the sweeper back into the slalom...first coupld runs i noticed that i was coming into that way too fast the pushing alot so i knew i was losing time there...

My tires seemingly have a fine line between having too much or too little air. I probably should have let a little out of the rears, because I was getting a little oversteer. My front tires I had high, but only because the week before I had them too low and lost a lot of rubber on the outside edges. I still have camber issues up front.

I'm considering going back to 16's. The 17's are twitchy on the road, and not enough sidewall on the auto-x course. I'm putting my stockers back on for a month to compare on the road.

no, nobody will get mad. unless you're beeing a jackass and driving wrecklessly.

i didn't know what i was doing my first time (been 3 times total). pretty much everyone there is super cool and will help with just about any questions you have. there are instructors that will ride with you as will the people there.

i'm not sure on price of the new helmets, i picked up mine at a pawn shop for 40bucks. *shrug* it's in decent shape. they'll loan you a helmet two seperate times, then after that it's 10 bucks to rent one. the helmet has to be a 'snell 1995 or newer'. my helmet is a snell 1996. :0

Yeah we invite everyone to come on out and try it and as Minimaul stated, we only get upset if your being wreckless. By that we mean over driving your car and endangering the safety of those working the course and other people's cars by your actions.

The group is there to have fun with cars ranging from a stock Ford Focus to Lotus Elise and drivers ranging from First time to Serious Racers.

Come on out!

ya, everyone is welcome to come try it out. it treuly is a run what ya brung type of events, from the f<edited forcensors>ss to a Vette to the wrex to a porsch to an elise to an 83 Toy celica, to one time a '7x toyota corrolla. As long as it is in decent shape mechanically, and driving it wont injure any spectators, you can run it. Instructors and many of us are willing to share info with people. either what gear you were in, when you shifted, which direction you took the slalom (if you could choose it) etc.. or just a "Hey, see the 4 cones I drug back?!"

Many are in it for the pure fun of it, and the rubbing it in to their friends of beating them with this or that, you know, general friendly competition. You shoudl come out and try it. everyone has a first time at one point. Coming to watch is a good step, however from outside and incar camera versions, it is noticably more hookingly when actually doing it.

Yup.

I borrowed a helmet at my first couple of events, and once I knew the right size, started shopping. I found mine on ebay for around 50-60 shipped. It was worn a couple times at the most.

Ya, snell 2000 currently. I bought mine at the honda shop downtown, as did many others. Do a search here or on alaskascca.com for helmets, I recall one place had scca member discounts.
