Its good to try and stay in your class or find one that works for you. I'm content to remain in STS class but when I get my next car I may try and stay stock. If I do anything it would probably be sway bars and strut support so I know that will handicap me. Ah well.

As for PAX I think our region isnt focused as much on that as other regions, for we are merely playing against each other. for instance I "compete" against Jake, Jason, Jason, Chris, Clint, Hope, Kevin, Darin and whomever else. you know, competeing against friends across classes or within classes. essentially, seeing how close or far we are from each other. PaX is more a season ending thing or class thing, its nice to know and compete in it, but we are more interested in RAW times generally.

For modding check the solo rules online or order up a solo rule book when they come available for next season, it'll give ya pointers of what bumps you or what doesnt.

Word. I got the rule book on my computer in PDF format. I'm at work so I can't scour the book--although I find plenty of time to browse forums--but i'll check it out as I can to see what classes I'd go to if I mod and what mods I can/can not do.

Yeah, I enjoy the friendly competition and trying to just be fast and get good times. As with any other 'club' (snowboarding, for instance) there isn't much else going on with Alaska other than inner-state competition with our peers since we're so far away from everyone else.

I'm not looking to go national, but, some extra incentive to win would be... nice. I love to drive and I want to get better and faster. As long as the competitions are friendly then things are all honky-dory.

It's nice to see the PAX time as compared with everyone else. but, generally I pay more attention to raw times to see how I did throughout the day.

A catback won't bump you out of GS, and neither will tires if they're on your stock rims (any info I give, if wrong, please point out ) Springs will, I believe.

But, there are friendly guys in STS, and if you ignore Jake and Clint, it can be somewhat competitive. Not that I want another fast car/driver in there (you're turning into a Jake or Clint ), but I like competition too. Plus, the PAX for GS and STS are currently very close, .794 for GS and .797 for STS. So, it's not a huge jump in that regard.

I'll check out the site, thanks.

Right now I'm not to worried about the class change stuff because I have all of winter to figure it out. I'll have plenty of time to research 'till next season starts. Around when does the first auto-x start? What month usually?

hehe, well, we'll see how next year will be for me. hopefully i don't forget how to drive around cones while I dodge snow birms and late-breakers at intersections all winter!

Now apply the PAX factor to the times and the times should be equal.
that makes a little more sense.

Minimaul, AKOBS is right that spring will class you up (as what did happen to me), but shocks won't.

Aight, coo'. I still don't know exactly what I want for suspension, but, I'm waiting till the end of winter to get that stuff.

Okay, so what does an Accessport do to classification?

Cobb is supposedly going to release an NA version for 05+. If available, I'd consider this to compliment the headers I will be installing in the spring. I'd really prefer to stay in an ST class.

I guess it depends on what the AP would do for me performance-wise.

Who here has an AP that auto-x's?

Hope has her AP but she's also in her own class.

And I see how it is AKOBS, worried I might overtake you next year so time to get into another class?

Maybe I'll just put some tape over the CEL instead.

Phil, you're heading to AS eventually anyway, so I'm not too worried.

I'd like to for once be in a class that my car makes good use of. Oh well, keep chasing that FTD.

Oh, another question, what if I ran the auto-x course in the "stock map"? Or whatever, I'm not too hip to the AP lingo.

i think by the time next Auto-X season rolls around I'll be driving a completely different (although the same) car. for next season i plan on having (and will have soon) suspension, good tires, i got my exhaust already, and maybe a chip with a few other things. but definantly suspension and tires. oohhh boy getting a raise is awesome!

It was a BIG raise too! I heard through the grapevine that I was getting one. I was expecting to get one similiar to what I got a couple of months ago. I wasn't expecting to get what I got though.

I won't be in another class until 2008 most likely there AKOBS unless I have to get rid of the Vibe next year and don't have a car to autocross in but the STi lol.

My, how a few months change things, eh Phil?

Just bumping this to show my auto-x type mods I recently did. The shift bushings and headers won't help much out there on the course, but the front swaybar, endlinks and steering rack bushings should. A note: the endlinks look to be at a weird angle in the pictures, but look perfect with the car on the ground. So far no clunking or squeaking. I can't wait to feel the difference in bodyroll.

Spring isn't too far off (even though it's cold today), so what does everyone else have in the works for the upcoming season?

Please don't whore this thread.

Sweet resurrection

Reading this thread gets me all excited to autocross. First even hopefully will be in april right? I should be there with an STi (if all goes well) but likely not driving it. Don't worry Jay I'm sure you'll still be faster then me... for a while

Doubtful at this point I'll be autocrossing the Vibe. My folks are buying it when I get my next car which means an uninstall meet in the future. Oh well it was a good run.

Oddly enough, this year I will be a first of not having any mods done. Aside from weight reduction (hopefully, soon as I stay on my schedule)

I cant wait for the season either though... getting antsy.

Nice.

My goal is for this spring/summer to get a new car. haha. the whole point of me getting the GTI was to build credit and drive a car I loved. Well, I've done that and now I'm almost ready to step-up. I really, really want AWD,but, there are very few cars that are out there in AWD and the styles/price I like.

At this point I'm probably going to end up with a New GTI. I'll be able to get exactly what I want--minus AWD, of course.* and it's in my price range. For nearly the same as what I'm paying now, I can have a brand new car, that's slightly faster, better build quality, and exactly the color and options I want.

So, yeah. If all goes well, I'll be rockin' a new GTI this auto-x season. I haven't done any mods to my current GTI because I knew I wasn't going to keep it for long. But, the new GTI will get some serious mods.

*The R32 isn't really an option for me due to price and options (no manual) and insurance.

well seems like some of us for mods are just replacing the whole car lol.

If I was keeping the pumkin, I doubt there would be anything I'd do to it. There isn't much if anything left to it that I could have done other then a front sway bar and different tires.

Feel any difference with those endlinks there Jay? I couldn't tell with Hope's but then again I hardly drive her car.

Well guys, by the time autocross comes around, my car should be fully prepared to compete. (except for the fact that it is heavy with luxuries)
I too shall make a couple rounds this year on the course. Will be my first time doing any kind of driving on record. Wish me luck yo, I suck, I need all the help I can get. ^^

No one is perfect at their first event. But I'm sure you'll do fine. Just take an instructor along with you if you need help and what not. Do plenty of course walking before hand. Its a learning experience to see what you can do and what your car can do.

I'm sure most of what I feel is the swaybar. Since I installed the bar and the links at the same time, I have no clue how much the endlinks are really helping. But, it was pretty noticeable when I test drove the car. The car felt taller for a bit, then I realized it was just because it wasn't leaning much. It makes bumpy parking lots a bit less enjoyable, though.
When I get the rear bar and endlinks on, it should be even more noticeable.

Yeah when I replaced my rear sway bar it seemed to keep the car upright/level on cornering. Wonder how it would have done with a front sway bar. Good fun though. The rear sway on a Vibe is easy to change... 2 bolts hold it in, thats it lol. No brackets, no end links...
