Talking Everyone who loves stupid newbie questions, click here!

I love being a newbie Thanks for all the help everyone has given me so far. I was wondering what kind of inexpensive and/or easy mods I could do to improve my car? I am also thinking about painting my car a different color. How much do you think I should expect to spend for a quality job? hmm. I think that is it for now but you know I will be back for more later. Thanx again.

Ty

budget at least 2.5-3k for a quality job; that's for a completely different color
maybe a little under 2k if you're staying the samecolor cuz you don't have to do sills, engine bay, trunk, etc

best upgrade you can make is wheels/tires and suspension; it may not feel faster, but it will *be* faster becuse you can corner harder

I surprised a lot of people in my old car because I had sticky rubber in a +2 size (205/50/15, up from 185/70/13) on my old camry
little econobox, but because the tires would hold, I could tricyle it around corners like you wouldn't believe..

take an AWD scooby and you're already way up in handling, and new tires, even if you don't do wheels, will make a huge difference.

Make sure to watch your offsets; subarus require a very high offset; don't go any lower than a 45 if you want to clear fenders...

Thanx Sybir. I appreciate the response. What do you know about 5Zigen wheels? Are they light/heavy? How about offset?

Sport Compact Car and Super Street magazine both just had their annual wheel issues. (The Super Street one was better, methinks).

I seem to recall the 5Zigens being heavy and/or under-offsetted... I was surprised by the Voxx line -- light, and available in a +50 offset.

Anyway, I'd recommend getting that issue of Super Street. It may still be on the shelves...
