Default Any good Subaru mechanic in Calgary...

Hi, this is my first posting.

I own a 2005 Impreza 2.5 in Calgary. It is due for a 24,000 km service. I checked the price at the Subie 2 dealerships in Calgary and was quoted $230 at one place and $300 at another. (Not sure why such a big price difference)

I would prefer to get it dealer serviced but the price seems a bit high for me.
I don't mind paying a reasonable and fair price for the service. Would anyone know a good Subie mechanic in Calgary that can do a great job at a lesser price?

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thank you everyone in advance.

Steven

Wow, basically an oil and air filter change.

You could pretty much do all this yourself. While you have the wheels off for rotation, check brake pads for wear. At the same time you could look at the CV boots.

From the Subaru site:
Quote:
* Replace engine oil and filter
* Inspect and adjust all fluid levels including both differentials
* Inspect and adjust all tire pressures
* Inspect operation of all lights, wipers and washers
* Inspect and adjust clutch clearance (if applicable)
* Inspect and adjust drive belt tension
* Inspect axle boot condition
* Lubricate all latches, hinges & locks (hood, doors, fuel door & trunk lid)
* Road test vehicle

* Replace air filter(s)
* Rotate tires and inspect for wear. Perform wheel alignment if necessary. (Additional charge)
* Lubricate all weather strips including sun roof
* Service and lubricate front and rear calipers
* Inspect brake pads and linings
* Inspect, service and adjust parking brake system
* Inspect all steering and suspension components
* Inspect and service battery cables and terminals
* Test engine coolant for strength (-45C) and inspect hoses and clamps
* Reset Engine Control Management System

Thanks Airboy for your reply.
If I could find a good independent Subie mechanic in Calgary I would rather take my car there even for a oil and filter service (I am not very knowledgeable about cars mechanically).

So, if anyone still has suggestions that would be great.

Hi my name is Kris and I can change your oil for free, bring me your car, a filter from subaru and 4.4 L of synthetic oil. 1 hour later and your done. really not a hard thing, also we could do it at someone elses place where we would have 4 jackstands to rotate your tires with... it really isnt hard but for something that simple you could go to any mechanic it isnt subie specific stuff

Wow, everyone on this forum is so super nice. Thank you so much Kris for that. Someone at work just offered to change oil and filter and do tire rotation with me. Hope I have not offended you by saying no.

But, if someone out there still knows a good independent garage/mechanic to go to, I would really appreciate the info (just in case, for other than regular service, there may be issues later on with my car etc)

Also, I heard that "All Makes" or "Allmakes" (not sure if my spelling is right) does good job on Subaru cars. Has anyone in Calgary had any experience with it? If somebody would like to share their experience (quality of the job and price) that would also be very helpful. Hope I ma not asking too too much.

Thank you everyone.

My co-worker recommended Coldwell Automotive at 4-3935 3A Street NE to me a few years back. Seems like a good honest shop. He takes his Volvo there and I have brought my Integra there as well.
