Default Three catalytic converters?!

Hey,
I was wondering if you had to leave all three catalytic converters on a WRX in order to pass emissions, or if you could remove one or two of them and still pass.

Thanks

1)Fill in your location, as emissions can be a local thing.
2)Ask this question in your local forum.
3)Pass or not on the sniff test, this is illegal, as in federal law. (just a warning)
4)Read all of this

"Pass emissions" is quite vague. It'd help if you filled out your profile and told us where you live, etc. Different states have different requirements, etc.

Go back to the Newbies and FAQ's thread, scroll up to the sticky post that says "FAQ's and Threads of Note," and start there. You're going to learn a lot more reading EVERY WORD of Unabomber's Manifesto than you will asking pretty well-known questions at NASIOC. People tend to attack the n00bs around here, me being one of them... but at least you didn't ask a completely asshatted question and you have decent grammar / spelling

... oh, and welcome

Depends on where you go.

If you have the mechanical CEL fix and don't have any CELs you will pass the OBDII readiness test. But, you WILL fail the visual inspection if they check.

^^^ not if yooz gots teh gutted DP

..... if it's really a concern for you, put the stock parts back on and reset the ECU to stock a few weeks before the inspection. That will give the ECU enough time to get reaquanted with the stock set up.

P.S. No one can tell you have an aftermarket up pipe (if you're 02-05).

you will be fine if tuned properly, and rarely do they actually do a visual inspection.

Thats why I said it all depends on where you go!

I'm pretty sure I'm not passing with the AP though. I think it puts the 02s and the EGT in the uppipe in not ready mode. I'll just revert it to stock and get it tested.

HAHA, awesome.

I wont have to worry about the visual at all. I'll just have to make sure the o2 reports ready.
