I have about 2,000 miles, so far. These results are a mixture of 70% city driving and 30% highway driving.

For the last few tanks:

22.0
22.3
22.1
22.0
23.1

It's very consistently near the 22.0 mark.

I can't wait to change over to Mobil1 in the engine and the tranny.

Have not tried a 100% interstate trip yet.

Tank refilled last night was 24mpg.
Combined driving with another passenger in the car for at least 30% of the tank.
This was the first full tank after the car's first dealer oil change at 3,100 miles.

I am consistantly getting 27 -28 MPG interstate travel. I have a 120 mile round-trip commute to work and home at a speed of about 75 MPH. The problem is the town driving. That is more like 22-24 MPG. Can't seem to stay off the turbo!

I get anywhere between 21 and 25 on mostly highway driving... the couple of times I've taken it thru the mountains to the beach (more spirited ) I got 32+ mpg. I know what the lesson to learn from that is . Chevron 92+techron seems to be the best for mileage, power and engine smoothness. I'm just about to go in for my first oil change.

23 mpg, mostly city, on 91 octane. My 1995 Impreza L (1.8l NA) did 24.5mpg on 87 octane. I was pleasantly surprised the wrx didn't do 19mpg or less...

Right around 22 MPG using 93 (and one tank of 100 ) very gentle driving as I am still breaking it in, but lots of idling for warm up/cool down.

Is this guy Neal or Bob?

Cruised at 3500-4000??? At 4000RPM, that's damn near 100MPH. Right on!!

I am probably getting around 10 MPG. I drive 60 miles a day to work on a small 2 lane highway, I am constantly going into boost to pass these ****ers going about 40mph! =(

One more:
270.7 miles for 13.567 gal = 19.95mpg

That's with auto-x runs and a whole lot of idling.

I only have about 1700 mi, and i've gotten about 23-24 mpg to a best of around 26 mpg. This is mostly city driving, but still hitting 50 mph often thru the city. The 26 mpg was mostly highway. I hope to get my first free oil change soon maybe 2000 mi.

The WRX has a 2.0L engine...If you are sitting on the highway at 65 mph with cruise control on, the Turbo hardly spins at all. The RS has a 2.5L engine and will, thus, get worse gas mileage than an off-boost WRX.

I normally get 23-24 mpg in "day to day" driving. Of course, I have to drive 10 miles on a highway to get anywhere at all.

My best was 28 mpg on a run from Ithaca, NY to Burlington, VT (330 miles). I had my bunny wabbit with me and didn't want to shake him up too much. He already hates to ride in a car.

As for the low fuel light...I STILL haven't seen it. I put 13.5 gallons in today. Only 15 of the 15.9 gallons is usable, so when does the thing come on? I'd like more than 23 miles warning to get gas. My Neon's light came on with 4.5 gallons left in a 12.5 gallon tank. I drove from Cortland, NY to Baldwinsville, NY (50 miles) with my needle resting on the peg in that car. Not complaining...I should pay more attention to my gas needs anyhow. Just an observation. Wow...I'm really rambling on and on. Sorry about that.

I fill up about 14 gallons each time at the pump and well normally its about 240 to the tank. Have got 190 with alot of spirited driving and the best was like 280.

Mostly all city driving and mostly always 6500rpm in first..

Addicted to boost.!!

I have been getting about 22 mpg in city driving. This is with 93 octane and driving it aggressively about 50% of the time.

About to go on a 500 mile highway trip, so I will find out what my highway mileage is soon.

Just got 23 mpg on a trip to Morgantown, WVA from near Gettysburg. Pushing 85 to 90 in WVa ... very hilly. Little slower on the way back, 70 to 75 & got >25 mpg, not too bad. Is it possible for these cars to go closer to the speed limit?

My first tank (filled up by the dealer), the light went on around 277 miles. My 2nd fill up was at 280 miles and the light didn't come on yet. I do mostly city driving and some highway.

I do a lot of city driving and I am usually in the 19-23mpg range depending on how heavy my foot is. On highway trips, with the stock tires, I was running 27-30mpg. On the studded Hakkas (I run them a little lower pressure), the highway mileage has dropped to 25-28mpg.

I have not previously had a car with any of the items listed below. I find myself having a little fun with the car. I drive 40% highway and 60% city. Also, most of the highway I drive to and from work is at or below 50 MPH, your typical highway work traffic. I have put 1800 miles on my car in a month and a half. Averaging 19.8 MPG with Mobil1 10W30 Synthetic and a drop-in K&N air filter. I have not driven on a trip anywhere so I am not sure what my true highway MPG is.

Items new to me:
Turbo 'n' Intercooler
AWD
ABS brakes
Kind of power this car has

Compared to my previous car, a 2000 Civic EX coupe, this car kicks @$$, major one at that.

Just did a longer road trip (3500 miles). I'll have to see if I managed to keep all the receipts to calculate precise numbers, but it seems like I got around 25-26 mpg in almost exclusively highway driving, often on cruise control between 70-85 mph. I typically filled up at a little more than 300 miles, and the warning light wasn't on yet.

In my typical driving, which is mostly in the city, I get less than 20 mpg.

Default 02 WRX Wagon milage

I'll admit I'm a little anal about keeping track of milage--but I've found that a simple spreadsheet format is easy and informative. For computer buffs, you can easily graph fuel costs, mpg, etc. I'm pasting some data from my excel file for those who would like to check out the template. note that I use formulas to compute total fuel costs, mpg, and miles driven. Just be sure to note down your milage when you fuel, and keep a reciept for the other statistics.
