Default Kit install

I am gonna be gettin my kit installed this week. How long can I drive injecting without a tune. I plan on getting a tune as soon as possible but it is a pain in the ass to get an appointment with my tuner.

What kit are you using? I would recommend keeping the system "inactive" until you tune.

same kit as I have

Put your "max" knob setting LOWER than your "start" knob and the system will not activate, or simply put both knobs on the lowest settings. To make sure it's not spraying you can look at the spray light, or pull the nozzle out of the pipe and make a quick pull to see if it sprays.

It will not hurt your vehicle to run it un-tuned. The best case scenerio would be you may gain a few HP, the worst case scenerio you can lose a few HP. it all depends on your current tuning and mixture. so to answer your question, it will not harm anything to run it un-tuned.

KJR,

Putting both knobs on the lowest settings would make the system come on at 1 psi, if you have the tuning button on 10, it would hit 100% duty cycle at 1 psi , if you have the tuning button on 5, it may only hit 50% or so.

The engine could misfire, and/or the cylinders could end up gettin washed(bad). People have also noted upto a 30whp loss from running water injection(from what I've heard). Imo it would be wise to tune the car with injection b4 you start using it on a normal basis. Course this is just my opinion, and I'm no expert.

peace

Ok, sorry for the mis-information. Then the max knob must be LOWER than the start knob.

FYI: I was spraying 50/50 for about a week before I was tuned. I am not 100% sure if it was the spray, but when I went back for my alky tune, my baseline numbers were down by 10whp. My tuner thought it was weird, and my ST trims were over 10% and my timing down 2 degrees.

I've got my alky kit for a week now untuned. Still having a hard time finding methanol but when I do, I'm gonna run w/o tune and see how she runs. I'll let you guys know

GottaRex- if you go up to New England Dragway at all, they sell meth by the gallon I believe. I am going up there tomorrow night, and I am buying a fair amount of it. I was also told they sell 5-gal containers you can put it in, so I might buy 5 or 10 gal of it, not positive yet. I'll be running a 50/50 mix so 10 gal of it should last me a good while.
