Default Sti Tires... help?

Hi All,
got a nail in my tire. 2000 miles on it, and no repair possible.
$375 for a new Potenza hurts. I'm gonna buy it, but question is... is there a more reasonable option?
Suggestions? Will get pretty sick of $400(with Gst etc.) every time I get an effing flat!
What's everyone else running? I'll get some winter rims and tires of course (speaking of which... suggestions?). I love the Potenzas' handling and ride, but they don't seem too reasonable given my bad luck with nails on Deerfoot
Thanx all!

for a winter rim, go to kaltire, I got a set of core racing 17" wheels for about 620$ taxes incl, they are 19lbs a wheel. sweet deal on a light winter wheel.

There are still some Falken ST215s around. I spoke with somebody the other day (Claude?) that got them for a smokin' deal for like $400 for all 4.

I'm running Michelin PS2s and they are not as grippy as the RE070s, but they are alot quieter on the highway.

Yes that would be me, I got them at the car audio gone wild event, they were giving them away for $98 a tire. The tire warhouse if I`m not mistaken.
Check them out, they just might have another set lying around. Don`t have them on the car yet but markus says he loves them. Love is a strong word so they must be good.

Claude, what offset are your core rims? Obviously they clear the brembos right?... I should start shopping for some cheapo winter hoops. I think something in a gun metal will look good on my '06 SGM STi - what shade is the hyper black (I can't tell from those pics).

thx.

It's hard to explain but if you go to kal tire on 170th and ask for Jeff or Chad, tell them I sent you and they should hook you up.. They are nice looking and I actually just painted mine bronze.

here are some pics of them after I painted them
page 11 post 256..

Thanks Claude, I'll drop by Kal tire. I like the looks of the "Evo-7" wheel on their website. Hopefully they've have a STi fitment.
