Unhappy OT, possible assistance/ advice for a ON birth certificate?

Sorry to post but I'm really in need of help.

I am renewing my Canadian passport and need an original copy of my birth certificate. My old one is lost and I was born in Toronto.

I sent all of the required docs for expedited processing and now I get a letter requesting the Guarantor form but since I have been in the US 30 years I don't have a Canadian Guarantor. Sooo, I submitted the Alt Guarantor and Explanation forms but they said they don't have them.

Does anyone know about this process or can provide some advice? I am scheduled to fly to Ireland in early September and I started this process in May. A am in jeopardy of not making the date (since I still do not have the birth certificate and need to submit for the passport after that.) and am getting worried.

Once again, sorry for posting here but I am desperate.

TIA,
-Mike.

I think this may be resolved since there was a mis communication between the passport office and myself.

Mods, please delete.

Thanks!

I'm curious though...what was the miscommunication and how did everything get solved?

Well, they said they needed an original birth certificate which I thought I submitted (the wallet sized one).

They responded saying they still needed an original, so I assumed they needed the "long form" which I sent away to Ontario for.

I then called the Canadian consulate in Atlanta to get assistance (after I received a response from Ontario stating I did not submit 2 forms which I definitely did) and the lady who helped me said the passport office does NOT require a long form so she would call them.

Upon returning her call, the passport office said I submitted a photocopy, which I am 99% I did not.

Either way, I have another wallet size certificate of birth which I sent out yesterday so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I hate to say it but overall they are not a very organized bunch of people at both ends (passport and birth certificate).

Can't the consulate in Atlanta help you out directly? Or is it a separate office/department that you have to work with to apply for the passport?

Bureaucracy...hah!

No, unfortunately they do not process those requests remotely at this time but I was glad the local office could at least facilitate the process.

Well tonight is your lucky night! LOL!

I do work for passports and I might be able to help you out. First off, the BC you sent is from Ontario right? Unless it's riped to shreds and we can't read the info on it, the only reason they would not accept is is if it's a copy. From the thousands and thousands of people that called that were calling me for that, 100% of them were actual copies. If you don't feel the embossed sceal on it, it's a copy. Now you say you had another one. Well then problem solved.

The long form BC is not required for adults so your pocket size should be fine. Unless it's a photocopy of course.

I work in the call center so if you have any problems, call 1-800-567-6868. We'll be able to help you out with your problem for sure.

God luck!

Wow, cool! This board never ceases to amaze me.. us Subaru nuts are everywhere!

Yea, I did send the original wallet size one... it even has the little colored "dots" etc. As long as I get something back this month i'm good since I fly out on Sept 6th.

Thanks,
-Mike.
