1. all the cool people are doing it.
2. lower underhood temps i suppose
3. cool steam effect when it rains (sometimes)
4. make the 400lb rs hood only 399lbs.
5. you can pretend its functional... I do.
6. you can see the strut bar if you look at the right angle.
7. why have a scoop for it to be blocked... its not a mustang you know.

there's no real advantage to removing it

mine is firmly in place

the main disadvantage is that your engine will become DIRTY and fast.
i dont like that

bah.... i dont have an intercooler, so, my hood scoop shield remains

I would say that 90% of the people that see my car (2000 RS) ask how I like the "WRX". They ask about the turbo and blah blah blah... half of the time I tell them "it's just an RS. They didn't make the WRX when I bought it." But the other half of the time I don't have time/energy to explain and I say "it's awesome. I like it a lot"

+1

Bothersome trying to explain that the USDM Impreza has the scoop but no turbo setup. If I don't need to open the hood, then I just rave about the AWD.
