Default Tuning Tools ?

I will be buying an AP soon for my WRX (once I get it...3 more weeks) and I have a question on what kind of guages / equipment I should purchase allong with it to monitor my vitals ?

I know that I will be needing a boost guage, but is there anything else that I should buy ?

Wideband 02, Boost and EGT gauge are what you need. What brand is up to you but you can find good info in Unibombers Read Me's.

This along with the Street Tuner software for the AP will allow you to tune yourself BUT do not attempt to tune yourself unless you absolutely are sure of what you're doing. You'd be better off in that aspect to run the off-the-shelf map of the AP or get a pro-tune.

Don't want to blow anything up. Good luck and congrats on the new ride.

Thank you very much. I certainly wont be tuning it myself , but should I get the Street Tuner software regardless ? Does a pro-tuner need this software ?

As of now, I'll be keeping the stock turbo, so i'll be using off the shelf maps, but later on I want to throw in a Monster TD05 16G so I'll be needing a good protune.

Well If you're going to keep your car stock for now, get the AP, throw in the OTS map for whatever stage you're at and call it good for a while. Just make sure you read the map notes on Cobb's website to determine what's acceptable and what's not with the OTS maps.

Get the other stuff later after you get the turbo upgrades etc.

And no a pro-tuner does not need that ST software, just the AP. Pro-tunes are somewhat expensive so be prepared.

Im ready for it. I've seen the figures :O lol but its well worth it.

All I will be doing Right away is the AP, Cobb Catted DP, probably a Perrin Up-pipe and a helix Ti Cat-back exhaust. Cobb doesnt specify an Up-pipe in their outline of mods I should have, but other people have told me the Up-pipe wont affect me if i use the OTS Stage II map. Is this true ?

I wanna just flash to STG2 and use that setup until I get all the goodies that support the 16G later on, but isnt it important to get these guages regardless if im using an off the shelf map ? Just to spot any problems if any arise ?

If you go to Cobb's website for the maps for your particular year/version of the Impreza and look at the map page, you'll see a "Map Notes" for the map you want to run. It will show you what's acceptable and what's note for that Stage.

For example for an 05, Stage 2 93 map (look up your car )

http://www.cobbtuning.com/wrx/access...2093%20oct.txt

It tells you what you need to have and not to have.

As for the gauges, I have a Stage 2 93 map on my 05 and no gauges. Cobb's maps are pretty safe. I have a boost gauge but no Wideband or EGT for now. But if you want to get the gauges now, that's up to you.

Okay so its pretty safe from what I read. Thanks bro, for all the info. And I think i'll just grab a boost guage for now, worry about the rest later.

Im guessing a knock light is something that would come in handy during tuning aswell ?
