Default Replacement Windscreen - Calgary?

So on the way back from the dyno in Edmonton I picked up a couple of rock chips in my windscreen, one of which has now become a flippin' huge crack. Can anyone recommend a windscreen replacement company in Calgary please?

thx.

Also referred to as a windshield, no offense intended, just in case someone didn't know.

P.S. He also calls the hood a bonnet, the trunk the boot, he might even call gas petrol, and spell tires with a y...tyres...I like that one.

Tricky: yep, I say all of those things, and I still occasionally get into the wrong side of the car!

Pee_Sack: You're welcome! That thread should probably be stickied for anyone changing out their up-pipe.

Sooo... windscreen/shield, who should I use? Is there different quality glass involved? I don't want cheapy old crap that's just gonna bust the first time a fly hits it, and I also don't want to pay an arm & a leg if I can avoid it...

unfortunately i think no matter which one u get pitwipe it's the angle our windshield is at that makes it so ****ty to rock chips.

i reccomend doing a 4-6inch stripe of headlight/3m guard on the bottom of the windshield. illegal but that seems to be the most prone spot for rocks to hit.

Just got a quote from Cal-alta Auto Glass... $435 + tax Something to do with having heated bits in the windscreen.

Thinking I might just put up with the crack for a while... a long while.

The heated bits - is that so the wipers don't stick when it's cold? I don't think I have that on my '02. If you can live without it, you should be able to get the glass for an '05 TS [or something along those lines], which I imagine lacks that feature and would subsequently be less expensive.

I don't think I have that heated section either. If that's the case, it should be under $300 out the door easily.

Glass is glass...95% is made in china...it’s the extra bits that make it expensive e.g. Heads up display, gold leaf, heated etc. I needed to replace my factory windshield by 8k and I found Kings Glass had the best price…$268 installed. 06STi does not have a heated windshield though! I phoned kings in the NE as I work up there…

Yeah, it's for the wipers. I was a bit shocked when he said it, cuz I thought that was only available on the JDM version?

Maybe he was mistaken? Maybe the STi has it and he was looking at the wrong part number? Or maybe my car does have it and I just didn't know.

I had a look where the wipers rest, but the glass is all black around there, so I couldn't tell if there was a heating element or not.

Cal-Alta on Edmonton Trail did my WRX windscreen. Good job, good to deal with, and reasonably priced (under 300, IIRC)

Windscreens are a consumable item - particularly if you compete in TSD rallies :-)

the 06 do have a heat coil for the wiper, the button next to the fog light button is for that. The shop first time put the wrong one for me so they have to eat the extra cost of the heated one. For a non heated one, I think it is $239 from Windshield surgeon ( which I don't recommend, scratch my car around the molding)

John, have you tried Pacific Autobody Shop?

Look it up on the phone book, and talk to Arthur.

Thanks for all the replies, guys. I was gonna swing by Cal-alta today to see if I can use a regular Impreza windscreen, but I've been busy all day putting a fence up, and now I'm tired and have started drinking... ahhh, sweet alcohol, bringer of happiness, taker of pain.
