proscan vs tekmate obd2 readers

Has anyone tried either of these laptop interfaced obd2 readers:

proscan
tekmate

they are around the same price ~ 100$. are they any good?

the ELM system is well supported by several software packages - including palm and pocketpc......under $100

If it can read emissions readiness codes, and all manufacturer specific and SAE specific codes then its worth it. If not don't buy it..

let me know which one is better.. they seem to do the same things. proscan has a nicer setup in terms of the windows but the tekmate comes with the usb already which is a bonus.

if anyone can see anything wrong with either or if this is worth it?

they both use the elm interface, so the only difference is the manufacturer's software (there is probably better versions available free). if the tekwhatever comes with usb, that's a plus for sure.

where can i find this software for free?
cause you can get just the interface with usb and no software.
are all the interfaces compatible with all software?

as i said before, scantool.net has a bunhc of free softwa6re available for the elm interface. I don't know if it will work with a usb version, since pretty much all others are serial based. i think if you emulate a com port to the usb port, it could work.

Hey Subenick. Did you end up getting on of these? If so, which one? I'm borrowing a Digimoto scanner, but it won't read the front O2 sensor (bank one sensor one). Does which ever you have give a reading for this ... and the rear O2 sensor (bank one sensor two)?
