When to Have 1st Oil Change for New WRX

The owners manual says 3K miles.

This guy at work says since I just put 1,000 miles on it, the oil should be drained and examined for shavings/burrs and then replaced. What you ya'll think?

Did my 1st change at 2200mi. I was going to change at 1000, but never found the time. If you do it yourself, make sure to get the crush washer.

I did mine about 2500, last one was at about 7200.

(Even though I went over the 3K miles, that's what my sticker said from Austin Subaru!)

I did mine at 3005( I had to drive to the store). Can't go wrong with the car manual. it's in the back.

Ya, I spoke with the service manager who said 3K is when to do it.

He said I only need to do it earlier if I'm performance racing it.
