Default Pinched nerve in my neck = bad

I was sitting at work yesterday when I turned my head and felt a weird pain in the upper part of my neck. I thought maybe it was just a kink in my neck and I could crack it out. Bad idea. I turned my head sharply a few times to the right and then I thought I was gonna pass out. Awesome.

So at this point I'm thinking I'm having a stroke or an aneurysm. I lay down on the floor in my office, sweating and nauseous. My friend gets me a glass of water and then I'm ok - for about 10 mins. After almost fainting a second time, I decide I need to go see my doctor.

The doctor checks me out, he's pushing on my neck muscles to find the one that's bothering me, but nothing is really hurting that bad. He's puzzled, but thinks it's a pinched nerve, gives me some muscle relaxers and sends me home.

I come home, fall alseep for about an hour on the couch, and then I get up - I get this searing intense pain that shoots up my head and down my back. My whole body tensed up and I felt weak and unable to breath for a second. Ok that's not good. Take two more steps and more intense pain. And then about every 10 minutes, I'd move my neck the wrong way and be paralyzed with pain. This continues through the night. It's a little better today but man does this suck.

CN: feel pain in neck at work, almost faint from trying to crack neck, get muscle relaxers from doc, and then enjoy searing death pain from pinched nerve in neck

I strained my neck last week. Still gives me some sharp stabbing pains. If the pain ain't going down your arms, then it's likely not a pinched nerve. Sounds like a pulled muscle--load up on your ibuprofen, use the muscle relaxers at night, and take it easy. Better by early next week, unless you do something stupid.

Last night the pain was shooting down my back and kinda making my right arm twitch a little bit. I don't have any idea what the hell I did to pull a neck muscle. It's weird. Weird and painful.

we see a lotta folks do it simply by sleeping 'wrong' or wrenching it sometime during the night. I think I wrenched mine mtn biking or basketball...not sure. In any case, 99.99% of these things resolve with time.

Then I turn and see my doctor standing naked next to the couch with a big grin on his face

Yeah, i had that happen to me once. Like if you move in this very particular direction, it hurts like hell and you can't move for like a second. Just don't move your neck too much for the next couple of days.

man i know what you are going through.
somethign with my back, as soon as i turned 25. Too much Marine Corps PT and martial arts. I am walking around in the snow, ground seems level.. I take a step, and the smallest thing, my foot drops down about 1 inch farther than i thought, and my back ****ing explodes. I pinched something BAD. could not move, i was frozen in place for like 5 min, then i did little baby steps back in to the house, where i layed down for the rest of the day. it hurt for 4 days after that.

Over the last three years it has happened two other times. Both times were not as bad, but i was still out for 2 days or so, and could not run for a week.

Getting old sucks.

I pinched a nerve in my neck today while at the gym. Not from excessive weight, just happened to seize up after doing the inclined-bench press. Pain radiates on the right side of the neck.

Felt sick and weak just after it happened, and couldn't lift my head up off the bench. Did some stretching, then went home.

Aleve pills aren't cutting it, though.

+1, I was in ER a week and a half ago with a pinched nerve. All the meds have had me feeling all sorts of goods, muscle relaxers, anti-inflammatory and pain meds.

I strained my neck in March doing weighted pullups. It hit me 3 hours after the exercise..my neck totally locked up for a couple days. Waited a weak and tried pushups and it locked up again. Went to the doc, said it was a muscle strain because I had no tingling or numbness. It's now July and I no longer lock up but I still get neck pain daily.

Figure its something I have to live with and that my doctor sucks ass.

There is a special at the McDonalds near work where you get a second Big Mac for $0.59 when you buy a Big Mac extra value meal. So I got the second Big Mac.

Unfortunately, I was alternating bites in the sandwiches and it may have been too much weight between the two of them. I got this horrible crick in my neck.

Fortunately, I only had one order of fries and didn't super size the coke, so the reduced heft of those items helped me to recover. By the end of lunch, I was feeling much better.

Some sites I searched said that painkillers aren't the way to go. You think you're better, but it just masks the pain, and can make it worse.

Here's to herbal therapy.

Ask your doctor for some PT, sit up straight at work...and don't sleep on the couch. These things will help. A lot.

I have one in my back. Its by far the worst pain I've ever experienced....not even close to anything else.

Its scary....imagine if it happened while driving. You'd be lucky to summon the strength to pull the car over....
