AP Stg.2 OTS Map Cobb catless turbo-back Turbo XS shorty intake(put on to see what it's like...no check engine lights)...sound is ...why the hell would you want an aftermarket blowoff valve when you got a shorty??!?? It sounds EXACTLY like a blowoff vavle...but not as loud/less annoying.I had my friend in the car reading live boost off of the Accessport as I did some pulls. I'll try to be as accurate as possible as I don't remember EXACT figures on some of the pulls. 1st gear: 12.8psi 2nd gear: 14.8psi 3rd gear: 15.9psi 4th gear: 16.1psi 5th gear: 16.5psi These are some pretty damn good numbers for being OTS. The car pulls like a mofo...and ever since I went Stg.2 it's been ~90 here in Chicago w/extreme humidity. I'm a FIRM believer in protunes, but I'm wondering how much I will gain with these numbers I'm already pushing. I know area under the curve will definitely be better which is what I/you want. For my protune I will have added an up-pipe and intercooler hoses. Another question is in regards to porting the turbo...is this neccessary??? I did it on my previous WRX. From what I've read it is to prevent boost creep.<---How come Cobb says nothing about having possible issues w/boost creep?

I had to have the wastegate ported on my car to prevent boost creep, and i also had to do a pro tune due to the fact that my stage2 map OTS was causing detenation. Go see Jorge at P@L, he will take care of you.

Stock wrx turbo's have little problem with boost creep. Sounds pretty good. Numbers may improve a little after some learning. A protune will get you a little better numbers but will smooth things out more. IMO a protune is not really worth it for a stage 2 vehicle. Get a bigger turbo, Topmount and other supporting mods before you invest in a protune. IMO
If your not gonna mod any further though a protune would be a good idea. Also with ots maps i would get an egt gauge. Last edited by WRX2FFU; 07-30-2006 at 11:08 AM. |
