Impreza GC8 PA FS: Stromung HFC 2.25" for N/A (with PDM O2 bung extender).

Hey all.

Back in February, I bought this Stromung high-flow cat from one of the other members here, he had it on his car for about 200 miles then opted for another exhaust choice.

I installed it in April, and have had it on the car since. It might've been 5,000 miles but I seriously doubt it. I can check my log book, pretty sure I wrote down the mileage at install.

This is the same HFC sold at Boxer4Racing and other sites for $350+ new. I'm putting this for sale at $200 picked up. Prefer not to ship, happy to arrange a meeting. I'll ship at the buyer's expense, it's just hard for me to get to the USPS because I don't get out of work until 4:30 or 5 every day.

A few pics:

I'm going to be taking it off the car probably this afternoon, or early this week at the latest. I've decided to save up for a turbo swap I think, so it'll have to go anyway, won't do me any good. Even if I stay N/A, I want some EL headers and the only ones with stock routing to mate up to these are the TWE ones at $975. I'd sooner go with OBX or something and just weld a cat into the straight pipe.

Thanks all. I have a PDM mechanical MIL eliminator screwed in place, I'll include it with the sale. For me it only lengthened the time between P0420 CELs, which happen with nearly all HFC installs. www.i-speed.us is working on a fix for that CEL with their next batch of ECU reflashes.

Cashier's check or money order preferred. If I do ship, I do *not* accept PayPal.

Oh, I have to keep the mounting bolts to put my OE cat back on, my originals were badly rusted. I do have a couple gaskets that Boxer4 sent me, along with a donut for putting between the HFC and midpipe, that you can have if you like.

The bolts have 13mm heads IIRC, normal bolts/nuts up fronts but the rears (mate to midpipe) use spring bolts. I bought new ones from a dealership.

BUMP

Didn't have time to pull this off the car last night, may wait until I get a buyer, haven't really decided.

Chris,
Very interested. Consider it interested enough to call dibs. Its ironic that you're selling a high flow because I'm in the market. My midpipe rusted at the flange leaving an extremely rusty sandwich of metal attached to my stock cat. Between realizing how much bs I would have to put up with to remove said flange then pondering the amount of restriction the stock cat has on my setup I said to hell with it, I want a high flow! So this is perfect. I'd be more than willing to arrange a pick-up point with you.

thanks for your help,
joe

Alright, great. I'll try to get the thing off tonight. I wanted to the other night, but it was too hot. Gonna be 98 or higher today, so tonight won't be friendly either, though maybe my garage floor will stay cool.

This weekend may work for me, I've no plans that I know of other than cleaning this filthy beast, waxing it if it isn't too hot, and finally installing my Ver.6 spats.

Oh, about the donut flange, the one to mate the cat to the midpipe is actually sort of mounted to the HFC already, I'd forgotten about that when I posted. Previous owner was bisonjr, I think he put it in there with a high-temp epoxy or I don't know what. Pretty convenient actually, so anyway it'll already be in there for you, I may need the spare donut for my stock cat to go back in. But I still may have a spare gasket or two to pass along.

PM me with any questions!

I wouldn't back out on Joe, that's just not polite...

...but if it doesn't work out, Dave, I'll make you a deal.

Yeah I know, I was hoping you'd catch it.

I was bummed about the grille because it's hard to find them pre-painted, but in hindsight I'd have had to give up my OE one, which I don't want to do honestly. Some stock parts I want to keep.

So it does, how goes it man?

Honestly I love the thing, but it won't do me a lick of good with a turbo. Or, like I said, with something like an OBX/RalliTEK header.

I have equal lengths mated to stock cat, mated to bisonjr's 2.25 midpipe...

It should be reunited with it's long lost cat section!

All it would need is the axleback and headers to make a happy family once again. I kinda miss them all....sniff.. Actually, everything but the cat pipe, I dont miss that.

HA!

I like it, performance-wise. It's a loud sucker, but the rumble comes from the pipe, the volume from the muffler. And my muffler's a POS straight-through, I should've saved and gone with something pre-made for the car. Oh well.

A resonated midpipe plus the HFC makes for a sweet exhaust. I'm hoping to be mostly on the way to a swap by Christmas. East Coast Swappers has my name written all over 'em.

Sorry Dave...I'm in the same predicament as you, only with my car the midpipe flange is rusted to the cat but minus the midpipe LOL So I've been riding around with an open cat for two weeks and its hella loud. I'll keep an eye out for ya. I do know that a random tech is for sale on RS club as of last week.

Plus, Boxer4 sells these Stromungs, as well as Rich at Daddy's SCP. He sells Stromung products at a discount, too.

Those are always a good idea.

If the stock headers/cat combo have never been unbolted, it's probably easier to take the whole thing off. That's what I did. Get more leverage that way, MAIC members talked me in to that.

But for me to take it off now, it should unbolt easily.
