Default Race City this Friday?

Since many of us are all tuned up now, I was thinking of headed down to Secret Streets this Friday, see what I can manage on the 1/4 mile. Anyone else interested? Be great to see some subies down there...

Its 25 bux to race. I have done it 80 times last year in a different car.
haven't tried it in a WRX yet. I can't launch it yet tho. AWD is proving harder to launch than FWD for me..

Suppose to be really cool on friday, if anyone else goes I'll go with my 06

Aleks, you could check my Cobb exhaust while we're there too.

I look at the drag strip as the cheapest dyno in town. I know what I did stock, stage 1 and stage 2. So now I want to find out what I can do Pro-tuned.

Sweet. I will definatelly come out if you want. I need some pointers on launching. I feel like I am killing my clutch/tranny every time I try it.

Helmets required or just keep my tin foil hat on?

Do they supply them at the track?

Yep, helmets are required. They have some at the track (I think) but they'll probably be snapped up early. I use a full face motorbike helmet, but an open face is fine too.

As for launching, yeah it isn't easy. I usually rev to around 4500~5000 and lift the clutch quickly, but without dropping it. You'll want to blip the throttle before launch too, not hold it steady.

I usually bog a bit, but when you hit it just right.. man are you pinned to the seat!

No, it'll be cancelled if the track is wet. Race City has a phone number with regular updates if the track is open or not.

I try and get there as early as I can (7-ish) cuz I hate the line up for tech inspection, which gets pretty long if you turn up later.
First I'll usually get a couple of early runs in. Then let the car cool down, and air temperature drop, sit in the stands and watch others race while I'm eating a burger... then make another couple of runs.

I didn't like the looks of the auto-x on the oval. Also I've heard horror stories about people smashing their cars into the wall...

I might go around 5:30-6 to get teched and go home for a while. I hate the damn tech line. Here is a tip: Ask for a speed pass. This little piece of paper lets you go to the front of the line next time you show up. I used it last year. If you have it they don't even check your car just let you through right away.
