OMGHi2U TXIC Beer thread: IDs checked

So with all the beer talk lately, I thought we need a real, official beer thread.

Discuss what you like, what you don't like etc. Take your post whoring somewhere else.

My favorite breweries:

Big Sky http://bigskybrew.com/

New Belgium http://www.newbelgium.com/

Dogfish Head http://www.dogfish.com/

and of course St. Arnold's http://www.saintarnold.com/

I prefer hops...lots of 'em. And way strong stouts/porters...the ones you need a spoon for. But I've been known to drink it all.

<ozzy>wine is fine but whiskey's quicker...suicide is slow with liquor</ozzy>

I'm really getting into the beers like Blue Moon, and some others that I don't have a chance in heck of spelling right. I think one is called Hoagaarden.

My other favorites are mexican beers: Corona, Dos Equis, Tecate, etc.

I used to drink Miller Lite alot, but I think I burned myself out on that.

The Flying Saucer on Main Street in Houston is awesome. There are so many beers to choose from.

Well I'm not a beer connoisseur but man I really have something for Mexican Lagers. I used to drink Shiner Bock like water but man that gets filling now. Here's some of my faves.

Dos XX Lager - http://www.dosxx.com/

Cerveza Pacifico Clara - http://www.gmodelo.com.mx/marcas/pacifico.html

Shiner Bock - http://www.shiner.com/

Killer Whale Ale (now called Killer Whale Stout) - http://www.pacificcoastbrewing.com/beers.htm

When I'm feeling fancy I like the New Begium stuff but I'm form Colorado so it's everwhere there. Most of the time I'm a PBR guy but not so much here in TX. In fact why is it so hard to find PBR in TX?

Also favororites:
Smithwicks
Guinness
Murphys Stout

and to a lesser degree

Beamish...{shut up...I'm Irish}

I run the gamut of beer preference.

corona

I guess maybe this makes me not picky, but I really would rather not drink any pilsners at all.

:barf-smiley: I tried that drek -once- and it was like drinking liquid petunias or some crap... far too 'fragrant', IMHO.

That was at least 9 years ago though, so maybe my tastes will approve now, but I doubt it. I was drinking lots of the crazy ales and stuff I still like today back then, and that one just did me wrong. I completed the old Bennigans Copper Clover Quest (much like Flying Saucer's thing with the saucer-club, drink 100 different beers, get your name on a wall) back then, which is where I had the misfortune of running across Hoegaarden
(hoe, not hoa .. not that it matters to me ).

To each their own though! Perhaps I should try one again, much like Kirby has with forcing down the Anchor Steams of late... he grew to enjoy it... there might be hope left!

Golden Monkey, FTW!... I had that stuff at Fathead's house once, the first time I'd ever seen it. Good stuff... I hardly ever see it though.

Likely because the beer that you have tried does indeed taste like piss.

There's a place near my house in Lake Dallas that sells Golden Monkey. So unusual. Hated it the first time I had it, but I couldn't stand to put it down either. Grew on me really quick.

And barleywine--I like the Old Foghorn the best, but Bigfoot's good too. Any others worth trying?

Mauditte by Unibroe is my all time fave, but pricey... Fat tire has to be my favorite that I can afford to drink on a regular basis.
