Three beers I had in Zurich, in order of goodness. I don't know why I didn't think of taking pictures of things I liked until I got to Zurich or else there'd be a big picture of an Erdinger Dunkelweiss (the best beer I had while in Europe, bar none).

Appenzell Weizenbier

Appenzell Quollfrisch

Eichhof Dunkel

Any thoughts on lambics? I've tried a few and thought they were gross. Something about open fermentation in dark cellars sparks my quality control issues.

Anchor makes a damn good Christmas ale
Buffalo Bill's Pumpkin Ale
St Arnold's (most of them)
Chimay
Sam Adams (haven't had nearly as many of these as I would like)

Actually pretty damn good.
If anyone doesn't like to see me post, better get this thread locked quick. I can talk beer for HOURS. . . ask my wife. . . she's seen it happen!

The raison is my favorite Dogfish brew. I like 'em all tho. I seriously think that brewery is dead f'n on in everything they do. Some of the brews are a bit much for "average" tastes, but they are true to form. For middle-of-the-road drinkers, the Indian Brown can sometimes score high.

Other good stateside brews I've enjoyed are those from Rogue, Avery, and more recently, Stonebridge. I like a few of the New Belgium brews, especially the Abbey. Their trippel doesn't taste right to me. I think they missed something in their interpretation. Overall a good outfit.

My tastes lean Belgian. I dig the yeasts. But anything with flavor, done right, has its place. My most favoritest beer, which I haven't found anywhere since the 1st one I tried, is the Leffe Trippel. Bring me a Leffe Trippel and I will wash your car (btw I suck at washing cars). Seriously, I'll give you 2 of any beer I have in stock. A few of you know that would be a good deal for you.

For the Unibroue fan, gotta get the La Fin Du Monde. It rocks bells, Canada stylee. Got one left in the frig, along w/some Salvator, a Stonebridge stout, some Pete's Wicked, some Shiner in both Bock and Hefeweizen. I'll drink just about any beer. I drained one of those Coors Light mini-kegs last weekend. Very draft-like and refreshing. Whoever mentioned the PBR, you're in the wrong place. Go get some Lone Star Light. BTW, put some gas in my mower when yer done with it

I know that raspberry Lambic I had at B&B was like a raspberry smoothie made with beer, nasty

If you are ever in Alberta, you gotta try some Big Rock http://www.bigrockbeer.com/

The Trad, Grasshopper and Warthog are awesome-O.

I don't mind PBR....it is better than Pearl, Lone Star and Oly Gold.

Finally!

Can you explain the no PBR thing to me. I know that LSL and PBR are coming from the same place but is it the same recipe. I like good beer too but PBR is cheap at the bar on concert nights. $1 in fact. Thanks for the info.

P.S.
I would totally mow your lawn if you give me PBR (or LSL as the case may be). I only require you trust drunken an Irishman/Rock and Roll junkie with a powered machine housing a spinning blade...

Also for Dallas Folk, The Doublewide has $1 PBR and $2 Lone Star on live show nights and good local Rock & Roll.

I find it hard to believe the stunning turnaround Alex has exhibited...

less than a year ago he was a "wah! beer sucks, wah!" kinda folk...

now he likes some good stuff...

Many of my favorites have been mentioned, but here are a few that haven't...

Red Hook ESB
Red Hook Blonde (Damn tough to find, but good stuff)
Red Seal (man I like the word "red" in my beers)

And as far as lambics go, Sam Adams Cranberry Lambic is one of my old skewl favorite beers... tasty stuff...

I also like Celis Raspberry... good stuff!

and previously Will mentioned I must not be a hop head because I don't like the DFH 60 minute... nothing could be further from the truth... their 90 minute is great and IPAs are one of my favorite beers... the 60 minute just tastes funny...

I want to try some of the brews from Avery... they make one called Samael and The Beast that have great looking bottles and they are very strong (14+%)... the only drawback is they are pert-near $8 for a 12oz. bottle!

I almost never post but this topic is is great. Many greats listed already so why rehash. One of my favorites has to be Magic Hat especially the Hocus Pocus and #9 great little brewery out of Burlington Vermont. Sadly I have yet to find it since moving away from the east coast. There are probably a hundred more great brews out there but the one I always look for at a new store is Magic Hat
