Question A lurker Emerges... to say Hi!

Hey I've been hanging around here for a couple of months since I bought my 02 WRX, happily reading all the great info etc. I havent found a reason to join up to post ... till now.

I have been making some trips to banff and Kananaskis and on the way back the Check Engine Light has been coming on.

Subaru of Calgary wants an hour just to read the codes.
Anyone else have codes come up after an hour of driveing or so?
Or better yet have a code reader that I could stop bu and use for a sec.

Gonna be driving to and from Kelowna alot soon for my wedding in sept and would like to get it sorted before then.

Thanks

ps I love AWD

Thanks Smoke Show

I am running bone stock by the way.
As far as I know anyway (just bought the car 2 months ago used)

I would like to upgrade to a STI intercooler and hoses, a stage 2 cobb setup and bigger brakes.

But all of that is a long ways a way yet.
Weddings / finding a place to live in Calgary are expensive.

The reason the code comes on after about an hour of driving is some of the sensors dont start reading til the car has been run for a while....so when the car gets to the right specs the sensors start reading and if something is faulty...boom a code.

An hour for reading the code that expensive....Rally here charges $25 to read a code.

I believe Parts Source lets you use a scanner for free. You could then post your code here for an explanation.

Welcome!

I'd read it for you too but I'm in Edmonton.

By the way, I looked into putting an STi IC on my bugeye and after LOTS of research found it to be an somewhat ineffective mod. You especially don't want to try running that using a COBB OTS map. Even ProTuned - which is the ONLY time you could safely run an STi TMIC - the USDM STi TMIC is not worth it.
For a bugeye, look into a JDM ver7 or ver8 STi TMIC. There aren't the fitment issues of the USDM TMIC and they are bigger!

^ Great to meet you! Nice ride you have there (needs modding!! heehee )

Stupid cal-alta was shut

IIRC your code was P1131, so I looked it up..

P1131 Front oxygen sensor circuit malfunction (short circuit)

Perhaps someone on here, wiser than me, can tell you how to fix it?

That was when going with bigger rear sway bar was cool, street racing comments were guys losing to Civic Si's (or SIR's up here), and the Minnam turbo kit was your ONLY path to decent performance.

A LOT has changed since then.
