Question Rims for My baby

i have read the unabomber at length....and determined that power mods for this model are really not worth it...so that leaves me with some cash for rims....my question is....my stocks are sixteen inches?(i think) a nice set of rims for me would be 17 inches so when i match up lower profile rubber to the larger diameter rims is there some kind of crazy physics thing that will throw off my speedo or screw with my fuel economy...thanks in advance for all replies

wrong forum. its not actually physics, its math. iirc, 17s with a 45 profile tire results in the speedo reading some 1.7ish mph too high, but that would be at 100 mph. at highway cruising speeds, it is not going to be a significant difference in speed. im sure the factory tolerance of the speedo is more than the difference from wheels.

physics may come into play a little when you start talking about the wheels themselves, but other than shear unsprung weigh of the wheel itself, the location of the rotational mass is going to relatively insignificant in terms of your mpg, and quite frankly, i doubt you would notice a difference in mass location (i.e. distance from the index).

search. take some time, and read some things in the tires and wheels forum. Wheels and tires can be an expensive mod, so take your time and make sure get something that you know you will like and that will be a good fit for what you want.
