Unhappy Cobb CAI broken

So I was changing my oil today, and what do I find when I pop the hood...my cobb cai is broken. The black plastic cylinder that houses the filter cracked at the top where you connect it to the piping, and fell completely off. It was just sitting there in my engine bay not doing it's job. So, I went to the store grabbed some duct tape, and taped it back up untill I can replace it. Kinda sucks...

Anyone know why it might have cracked? Has this happened to anyone else. I've had the intake for almost three years now, and I'm in vegas...so...maybe the heat had something to do with it...who knows...

FInd out what sort of plastic it is and buy some glue for it. You can find glues at www.tapplastics.com The weldon product line has glue to make anything stick to anything else. IT usually goes on like water and dries quickly. I'm sure it would be cheaper than replacing the part that cracked.

Im thinking about having an aluminum shroud fabbed up. The plastic one cracks way to easy. I figure some aluminum tubing and a little welding work and some set screws would do the trick. I will probably put some sort of heat shielding wrap on it and the intake, the buggers get hot quick and that cant by good for the air density inside the intake.

My black plastic piece broke too. I taped in and put it back in there.
