a simple yes or no answer will suffice, will the obx cat back fit the 06 imprezas

Yes. If it is the RS catback.
No. If it is the WRX catback (midpipe is too short).

Isnt the midpipe flange in a slightly different position with the 06's?

Only for the axleback...if you try to use an axleback from an earlier RS, it wont work...but a whole catback will. If you are ONLY looking for an axleback, the WRX or STi ones will work....confusing isn't it?
