Default MY05 2.5RS Exhaust Question

Yeah I'm just wondering if basically any type of cat-back exhaust will fit the MY05 2.5RS. I been searching for alittle bit and alot of people have about 2.25 - 2.50 inch piping for their RS but for their -MY04 RS. Have yet to seen 3 inch with the newer RS'. Maybe I didn't search enough?

Will getting a 3 inch piping catback be any good or bad for the MY05 RS? I'm just asking because all I seen around are for catb-back exhausts for the +MY02 WRX/ +04 STI or MY93-01 RS. Nothing new about the +MY02 RS. I want an angled 4.5 inch tip exhaust with 3 inch piping .

Have any thoughts about which one to get?
I like the Invidia G200, HKS Hi-Power, and/or Apexi N1. think those will fit? information about those show about the WRX and STI. where's the RS?
Thanks alot.

3" is TOO big for the RS...stick with 2.25-2.5"...otherwise you will lose all that low end RS torque.

^^^ Exactly. Any cat-back designed for the 02+ RS will work. Also, those 3 inch pipe ones won't fit without some modification at a exhaust shop. If you had to get something modified you might as well go custom. Also remember that you'll need some headers to get that boxer sound, the stock headers do a good job of eliminating that.

Also, angled canister looks stupid. A Magnaflow twin-tip is a much better choice IMO

ive been told that many exhausts for the gc style (pre-02)will fit on the new rs's with only a minimal amount of modification, i believe just moving one hanger. can anyone clarify this. i got the info from a thread about the gc style greddy evo2 working in this scenario.

I would also like to do exhaust on my car sometime in the near future, i've had probably 5 cars with "custom" muffler shop piped exhaust and told myself i would modify my car with a little imo, nicer mods. the gc style exhausts are coming up cheaper these days with the newer models out, if modifying a hanger is all it takes i may go this route.

yes the 98-01 exhausts work on your cars, just one hanger you dont really even need would need to be rotated

3" piping is ridiculously to big, and a big angled fart can is just rice

but to make you happy your only option really is the crappy apexi n1

Injen is comming out with a nice exhaust for the 05-06 RS. I've been calling around and it should be out fairly soon (they were anticipating arrival LAST month so really idk). But specs say it does have an oversized tip with 2.25" piping.

This is my first choice as i have an injen intake, would like something to bolt right up, and also have a gapping hole for exhaust left by my bodykit.

Hope that helps.

i like how people never think about this, you all want a huge cannon out the back but when you look from the side of the car youll see a tiny little pipe leading up to it, total uncool

Cobb fits perfectly on 2005 RS, sounds beefy and deep, and looks like a stocker sytem on 'roids...as opposed to the Honda-esque fartcan look. Quality of the Cobb is superb...welds and finish are showpiece quality. I just wish Cobb would OK the EL headers for MY05...sigh...Rallitek to the rescue.

Somewhere I read that the Cobb ELH do not clear the subframe bits and a little persuasion is needed with a small sledge to install them.

Maybe I got incorrect information, but I also asked Cobb why the fitment for the ELH stops at MY04...I believe I got "We are working on it!" from them.
