Question P0103 - Will NOT go away..

Ok guys.. This is what I know..

98 Imprezza 2.2 NA.. As far as I know stock other then punced out cats.

This guy saw me rolling aroung in my 02 WRX and flagged me down.. He asked if I could help him so I am turning to you guys.. He said that he is getting a:

P0103 - Mass air flow sensor circuit high input

He said he tried to clean the MAS and clear the ECU but the code came back.

He said he tried a new MAS and clear the ECU and the code came back.

He said he downloaded the specs and all the voltages checked out except the MAS output.. It was, well High..

As it is now the car is in "Limp" mode and rev limited at about 2500 rpm he said..

Also he said that she starts up fine and runs smooth and solid for 30 seconds then falls flat on her face and stalls out.. BUT if you can keep her running for 30 seconds she will run smoothly again for another 30 and so on and so on.. I am assuming that's part of the Limp Mode..

I can't help this guy out as I never expierienced this issue becuase my Hydra simply doesn't need a MAS.. Any help is appreciated..

Ohh, thanks for no flaming, I'm not that versed in what I don't deal with hands on with Subarus..

i have the same problem. wifes '98 obs
i had the code pulled and they said it was a vacuum leak or the maf sensor.
car went into limp mode 3 weeks later so i changed the maf (after i broke it checking it out.).i also checked all of the vacuum lines for cracks and whatnot.
cleared the code.
code came back two days later.
its been like that for about 3 months now.
no limp mode after new maf.
if i somehow fix it i will post how.

Damn, this code sucks.. This guy works at a local parts store that I frequent and he asks me every time I see him if I figured it out yet.. I feel bad saying "NOPE"...

I had a circuit high input on an injector and it turned out to be a small short from the harness rubbing. I had to peel the black plastic sheathing and look for the short. Thats the best I can do for now as I have never had this particular CEL.

Ok, nice, I will tell him to check his harness and make sure it's all properly routed and clear of shorts. I can't believe this has so few replys.. Come on guys, I though you guys were the Subie Kings on here..
