Default a little concerned about getting work done CT

I notice i also have the sti strut clunk problem. i'm afraid that they will make a note that i have modifications to my car including turbo, exhaust, fmic. If i bring it in to get warrantied you think they'd void other warantees? Located in CT

dang thats a tough situation.. i'd be curious for someone to chime in here.. they shouldn't if the suspension is completely stock.. the only thing they would void would be pretty much all exhaust and engine components, but the suspension should be ok if it hasnt been touched

....they may make a note for future reference. I guess it would depend on your relationship with the dealer. .....although there are never any garauntees.

No need to open the hood for a rear strut clunk issue. I would be there while they do the work.

odds are if they are not a very mod friendly dealer, they'll pop the hood when they get it back there as soon as they note the exhaust.

Hate to say it, but if you can't afford to repair your car if it breaks, you shouldn't be modding while inside the warranty period. They'll only deny a claim if they feel that one or more of the mods contributed to the failure.

They don't need to pop the trunk to see an exhaust and FMIC. Frankly...popping the hodd isn't unreasonable though. As they might want to check the front struts too, maybe verify that their firmly mounted on the strut towers up front.

I'd guess they'd note any obvious modifications for any future issues. It's possible they could claim these mods affected the suspension, via the higher horsepower putting the suspension under more duress, but it's really unlikely.

They don't "void" your future warranty claims...but they will know you had those mods done at one time, and future issues related to them would NOT be covered.

If you bring it in there for a rear strut issue, they should not pop the hood. They will though and they will note what's done to the car. I'd return the car to stock before taking it in.

To the OP.

If you give them a reason to they will look for other mods.

Don't be a jack ass, play it cool.

Make an appointment, show up on time (very important), don't stare over the service writers shoulder (when we are ready we will come get you) and don't make a big scene if you do see them looking under your hood (we are all gearheads, otherwise we wouldn't be in this profession)

PS: Donuts go a long way.

you sure are spending a lot of time with this. It's kinda cute, like when someone has a crush on someone and they follow them around and stuff. And yes, I know HB personally and he does let me use his webspace. Stop being such a thread jacker Report what you need to the mods via pm, stop making this a public battle.

It's funnyhow I made NO COMMENTS to you yet when someone calls me a troll and I respond you feel the need to come to their rescue. What gives, are you mentally stable?

Dealers do not typically note anything....unless you go to a non- mod-friendly dealer/and,or go in for powertrain warranty work and its denied, they black flag the vin number. We wouldnt refuse warranty work on a stock suspension for a known issue with these rear struts. 25 pairs replaced and counting( including mine!!!) Hope this helps.

.....you're taking this to a personal level when you send me private information about where my family lives and the fact that you will have one of your local friends search for my house and "stop by". Whether you are serious or not, I don't think it's amusing where my family is concerned. I have nothing against you personally and I hope this stops here.

I didn't say anyone was going to stop at your house man. Considered it stopped, that's all I wanted was you to leave me alone. Peace luband hair grease.
