Default Used cars and warrenties

Hey, I tried to search, but it seems the search function seems to be down on the boards right now.

I bought a 2005 WRX in Jan with 8,000 miles on it from a used car dealer. I am just curious wether or not the SOA warranty stays with the car after the original owner sells it, or am do I still qaulify.

...if so, the only complaint I have is that the paint on the numbers for the 6-disc CD changer is flaking off. Do you think the dealership would give me a real hard time about that?

Your warranty travels with the car. As long as you don't modify the power, everything should be good.

The paint on the cd player? Depends on how many miles you have put ont he car since you bought it. But mostly likely, you could just get a replacement for about 100 bucks.

Clean title? Checking the warrantly status at a dealer may be a great way to find out if the car was ever blacklisted (if there is such a thing) for water damage, salvage title, etc.

Not suggesting that your car isn't up to snuff, but if it IS then yeah, it should definitely have the normal warranty.

yup - warranty transfers with the car - you should have the balance of the 3/36 as well as the 5/60 powertrain warranty.

+1 on warranty goes with car. I bought my 04 WRX with 19K on it and have never had any warranty work problems with the local dealer.

score...Ill have to give them a call about that then. Save $100, unless they claim normal wear and tear.

Wear and tear is covered for 3/36

They might claim (I don't know, haven't seen the issue) that someone tried to clean it with a cleaner that damaged it...that would not be covered.

Yes, if you buy a vehicle from the owner (not the dealer), you can have the extended warranty transferred into your name for a small fee.

But, that's not the same as factory warranty. That follows the vehicle, not the owner, and there is no fee involved. (but you should call Subaru and let them know you now own it for future references, i.e. recalls, if needed)
