Sorry, I know this isnt a newb section, but I was hoping you could answer some quick questions for me that the FAQ's didnt seem to answer.
When looking online, like at ebay, it shows that there are some alcohol injection kits for abotu $200. These say they come with everything needed but it doesnt looke like they come with a storage tank for fluids. Is this common? Are you supposed to use your stock windshield resevior? Also I dont think I saw it in the FAQ's, but running about 270 WHP on my 03 WRX... what is a good PSI / nozzel to run? Thanks ahead of time! Edit (Vf30 turbo, 550 pinkys, big TMIC, TBE, walbro, UTEC) are my mods if that helps

I'd say contact one of the vendors that post here. It will be more than $200 for a kit, but they will set you up with the correct size nozzle and provide after sales support. You really shouldn't skimp on an alky kit.

Yes it's common, and you can use whatever you want. I wouldn't use the stock resevior, but lots of people do. Coolingmist has a new kit for $225 with a tank, but the tank is kinda small anways(maybe use of the stock tank with the new one being for the winsheild washer would work ok)........ Course, ordering some parts over the phone/internet and lookin at coolingmist install instructions could also be pretty easy and cheap. You might wanna check out "The Ultimate DIY Water/Alc Injection Thread" if you haven't.
The psi and nozzel depend on you and your setup, assuming you're the tuner. Running a higher pressure pump will make it so you can use a smaller nozzle and get the same effect as a bigger nozzle with a lower psi pump. Although the smaller nozzle with the higher psi pump(say 150) would probably atomize the water/alc better, I'd rather use the bigger nozzle at lower pressure(say 100) because there's less chance of the bigger nozzle clogging(at least in my mind, could be wrong). Course these are just some offhand thoughts for a staged system. If you decide to control the duty cycle of the solenoid or pump with your utec(with the spare solenoid map), a higher psi pump might(should) result in a wider range of flow with a given nozzle. peace Last edited by hippy; 08-08-2006 at 11:49 AM. |

thats exactly what I was looking for hippy. I appreciate your input... you are knowledgable and have a specialist title for posting valid items like this, instead of those other a$$clowns that post stuff like use FAQ's and ^^^^..... Ill look into cooling mist.
Also thanks Blennophobic for that input. |
