Default What's "Ricky Bobby" about yer car?

alibenn inspired this w/his spring-rubber-fix post:

Almost all of us paid over $20k for our cars, some closer to $25-30,000. A lot of these cars have automatic climate control, leather, heated seats, nav, etc etc. The ECUs are sophisticated and very tuneable. However, if you're like me, sometimes you just have to "Ricky Bobby" a fix.

Here's mine: My DP-to-intermediate-pipe joint is totally Ricky Bobby. At best, it's a "tick-tick-tick" leak. At worst, it's a rasptastic display of ricerlike rage. I've spent at least 15 or 20 minutes (do you not KNOW how lazy I am???) slapping AutoZone gaskets and huge gobs of black RTV all over it, only to have it open up again TWICE. . . face it, my "European Sport Wagon" (made in Japan, sold by GM), has a big ol' streak of RICKY BOBBY blabbin' out from its underbelly.

SOooooo, what's Ricky Bobby about your car? It doesn't have to be ugly or loud, but it has to be redneck, WT, or get-toe in some form or fashion. BTW, Philistine and Glilly already have past entries in the archives

Mine's not that bad, at least I think it is.

I have a two guage a-pillar mount for my DEFIs and the holes didn't match up to the mount points of the stock a-pillar.

My problem: How to I hold my a-pillar to the car?

My solution: I velcroed on the parts that touched the roof and double sided tape on the parts that touch the molding. I also glued the caps that came with the new a-pillar over the holes so it'd look like I knew what I was doing.

You can't really tell at all except for every once in a while the velcro at the top comes loose (guess the headliner isn't nappy enough).

Maybe I'll take a pic and get expert opinions.

Uhhh, seein' as how yer "region" puts you north of the Ricky Bobby Line, the pics will be mandatory

Yoo Shin, that is sooooo Ricky Bobby. I remember reading about when you first gorked that up. It was painful just for me to read it. I was reminded of the time I cross-threaded a spark plug in my LT1 aluminum heads (I bought several hundred $$ worth of humility that day). Good show!

Duly noted. Sorry, Grandma taught me anyone from north of I-10 is a yankee. North of Conroe is damn yankees

Sully, why would he waste Freebird's wrap on AC lines when it's perfect for fabbing up heat shields? And are you too busy shopping for an old Mirage to spell BURRITO right?

My Volvo doesn't have a CD player. It has a tape deck. That doesn't ****ing work.

^ That's Ricky Bobby.

There really was nothing on the old STi, though, sad to say, that would qualify.

The dude I sold my '94 to put in a built shortblock, powerglide, and 9" rear. I could never aspire to that level of Ricky Bobby.
