Default 555 Motorsports Seattle Tuning Trip - Summer '09

:::UPDATE::: - I will be coming to town August 17-23, I will be setting dates tomorrow for Spokane, Seattle and if we get more interest also portland

Many of you might have seen the thread started by Jerad. Thanks for starting that thread Jerad.

I am looking to come in around the middle to end of august, might be sooner if we get more cars signed up quicker.

I would like to have at least 8 or more cars,

We will be adding some more tuning interfaces here in the next few weeks to include the Cobb AP and quite possibily, SCT Tuning software (for Ford, Chrysler, Dodge...that includes SRT-4's and even SRT-10 vipers).

We can set-up times accordingly at PIA....here is the list of cars for those who are unfamiliar with what we currently tune.

-OpenECU - Most Subarus see full list here --> http://www.romraider.com/Documentation/SupportedECUs or ask him if you have any questions about your cars support.
-HydraEMS
-Link
-PowerFC
-AEM
-EMS
-HP Tuners- For all your GM Needs (and new Ford too)
-DSM Link - 1g and 2g DSM's
-OpenECU for EVOs too

Dyno Tunes will be $400 - *except HP Tuners

Road Tunes will be $250 - *except HP Tuners

HP Tuners is still $300 for up to 3 hours for a road tune and a dyno tune is $300+ dyno time

Matt

555 Motorsports

Tuning List

-Jerad- Grand Prix & Chevy express van - Confirmed

-McDougal (portland) -

-Ken - STi

-Steve - Confirmed

Pricing, services and location would be nice. I know you said Seattle but if there is anyway it could be pushed a bit further south for us Portland folks it would be nice. It looks like $250 for a basic tune from reading your website. I would probably do it.

Matt,

Put me down for a quick run through of my car, hopefully we can get that wastegate code never to pop up again.

Thanks, Steve

So I don't need a wideband for a road tune right? Do you feel that a dyno tune is far and away better than a road tune?

Hey Matt, will HP tunes still be 300.00 so I can tell other HP users a set price. And also keep me posted on the Ford software I have a guy in a 94 5.0 that wants to know if you have software to tune it.

Ditto this... is a Dyno tune better, or road?

Is there any difference for Cobb AP / Open source tune? Advantages/Disadvantages of either or?

I may be interested...

When you talk about dyno tuning vs road tuning there have been many debates on the topic. There are benefits to both, with a road dyno I can see how you drive the car and go thru the gears and when we are tuning the car see how you drive.

With the dyno tune you have the safety of the dyno as well as getting the HP #'s to go along with the tune.

As far as power goes, I can and have made the same power with both methods of tuning.

The big benefit to the Cobb AP is the ability to switch maps on the fly without a laptop. This works well for those who race, or like to have a higher octane (such as a race gas) map. The other nice part as far as the Cobb AP goes is real-time tuning which can make certain portions of tuning easier.

Other than that the way the ECU is flashed is identical in many respects. Tuning with either system will not net more gains than the other it is really a preference thing. For most customers Open Source is perfect because they do not want to switch maps unless they had parts, and they save the money of buying an accessport to get the car tuned.

I hope that answers your questions fully, if not let me know.

With the accessport I would have the ability to set-up both. Depending on what you are looking for we can get you set-up.
