Default Cel- Po117

Just wondering if anyone knows what could be associated with a PO117- coolant temp sensor malfunction? I'm getting 2 codes, both a PO117. Think it could just be the coolant temp sensor? My gauge works fine and my fans kick on. Whats the deal?

Any ideas?? I can't erase the code either. $40 bucks for the sensor, guess I'll just order one and replace it.

ALSO.... What kind of codes make a ecu go into limp mode. Could this code cause that? What about an EGR or EVAP code? Will those cause the ecu to go into limp mode?
