Ok this is probably a stupid question but here it goes:
I searched and found very little for whatever reason. On my 2006 STI, I see no place for racks to BOLT into (from what I can see), and I refuse to have the clamp style racks which bolt onto your door. Did this guy have some holes drilled in for racks or is there something I'm missing here?
Thanks for the input guys,
Jon

There is a write up about this. The c/n is that you can remove the black strip and there are hooks that you can by a different Q clip and bend/modify it to work. I know a few people who tried this and had their racks pop loose on the highway. So follow the write up perfectly or accept the clamp method.

I try not to drive like a jackass most of the time... But I've never tried to go racing with that much stuff on top. It is usually stuff that is dirty or that I might not like to have fall on the car. I drove 85 on the freeway to the track with no problem, that was a few hours. I have gone to the beach with stuff like that and it's not a big deal. You will feel the weight up top since it is so high up. When you turn and make directional changes, the car has a little bobblehead action.

A cooler full of ice, drinks, and food is plenty heavy and takes help to get on top of the car with a little step ladder or something. Don't forget you have to lift whatever it is over your head to get it up top.

Also, the load is about 20-30 lbs per corner when distributed. I don't like that the threads hold all the load and stress, but what can you do?

Here's the write-up.

I am going to do this in the next week or two. It doesn't seem too complicated.

I'll play! Fishing trip in NH and a cross country trip.
As soon as I get some I'll put up some pics of the new Subi.

Nice, I spent a large chunk of my childhood in a Green Old Town Tripper. One of these days, when I get a garage, I'm going to pick up Penobscott. I just hope it will fit on my STI...

Hi guys, I'm planning on getting a Thule fairing for my setup, but not sure which size.
I'm tossing up between the 38" and the 44".

I've spent hours trolling the pics in this thread and it's still hard to gauge which one looks better.

the 44" in the yakima is definitely the way to go if i was going with yakima. but the Thule 44" looks kinda awkward in that size with the rounded edges it has.

Any opinions, anyone with some good shots of theirs that can help me decide?

Thanks!
