Trying to decide between the following for my 2011 WRX sedan

Yakima Rocketbox Pro 12 (might be too long)
Yakima Rocketbox Pro 14 (might be tad wide/weird design lines)
Thule Ascent 1600 (pushing it on price at $469)

I understand that Subaru makes an Extended Roof Carrier E361SAJ200 but I believe it has the old style U clamps for mounting and it is 36" wide. I need to keep it at 33 or less because I'd like to also carry one to two bikes. I presently have Yakima Control Towers and shortened bars to I believe 49 or 50 inches. I think with the pro 14 or Ascent 1600, I could get two steelhead bike mounts either at just at the inside edge of the towers or on the extra part of the bars that extend past the towers.

I will be using the box for skiing in winter (downhill) and camping/luggage year round.

Anyone have personal knowledge or install pics of any of these boxes that I am considering? Suggestions?

+1 I would love to see that. Can't fit two bike racks next to it? If its 36" plus what? 3" each for the bike racks so that's 42"? Gotta be room on there. I definitely want to see it. Plus the Subaru one is only $345

Good points. Well the actual width of the towers take up probably a combined total of 7-8 inches of unusuable space where they meet the bar on each side. Could have overhang of the box there, though. I think the bikes take a good 3 inches of bar mounting space, each.

I tried on the Ascent 1600 tonight. Seems to be a decent size. Mounts way up there in the air, but that might be due to the control tower setup I have with the landing pads. Longest ski I could fit in that would be 185 and that would be sorta diaganol inside. At 74 inches long I don't think going longer would look too good and would overhang a lot.

Still mulling this over.

Looking thru some older post it looks like this is exactly what you'll need, the 460 Podium towers and the 3068 Fit kit. What are the dimensions of your old bars?

I do like this setup.. It mounts to the factory spots though , right? I see that it says it's permanent.

It's only permanent if you drill your roof. On your car there are already threaded brackets to bolt those into.

Kind of leaning towards the Subaru branded E361SAJ200 which, from what I can tell, is a re-branded Thule Evolution 1600, with slightly different mounting clamps. I can pick it up for $400 at my dealer. Anyone have this box? Ease of installing and taking off? Warranty on these?

Is there a load limit?
I see people strapping Lazy Boys, lumber, and **** up top. I kind of remember seeing a load limit warning on the box before I threw it all away years ago...
I am rocking Thule 400 XTR Rapid Aero feet on my bugeye (I think). Max load I ever had was 4 boards, 1 skis. Been wanting a basket for camping though.

I think the general consensus is 176lb per bar but the force the feet are able to take is a diff story. A basket filled with camping stuff would be totally fine. I love my basket but I think now I'm starting to lean toward the box especially if you might encounter inclement weather

Got my winter rack up and ready! Rally Armor urethane flaps just arrived, but I thought I'd post these up.

Inno Fairing (Medium)

Looks good! Can't wait to get my car back so I can reinstall my roof rack (and drive it of course)... Once I get some protection on for my Inno it will be great!

NICE and thanks. It's def a Scoob look. Now that I have the rack on, I don't think I'll be taking it off. Snowboarding in the winter, biking in the summer.
