Anyone using the Subaru mounts for their Yakima snowboard attachments and have the Yakima clamp mounts to spare?

So I'm about to receive my factory cross bars that I bought from a member on here. I have no idea how to install them, I don't even know if he will provide the mounting screws/ bolts/ whatever... what do I need if those aren't provided?

Also where would I locate a fairing and where abouts would it mount up? Can I make my own?

Any fairing will fit with a little modification.

Yakima and Thule will fit if you trim the clips and use some Subaru mounts. Inno is a direct bolt up.

^OEM Factory Cross bars mount up easily, all you need is the torx screwdriver included with the kit. As stated above, INNO fairing is direct mount.

Here's a shot of mine:

So while swapping over to my winter wheels a buddy of mine took it upon himself and without my knowledge to "clean" my fairing that had some old sticker gunk on it from the previous owner with Goof Off. So now its basically F'd, sorta anyway. As it ate through the plastic and is now textured. He has offered to buy me a new one, but maybe impossible with these being somewhat rare, and has sincerely apologized and has been cut off from even touching my car without my permission. But i didnt know if anyone had any ideas to at least get rid of the white that is now on it. I believe my only option is to paint it black. And even though it looks like it will wipe off with some sort of cleaner, i have my reservations about putting any other "cleaner" on it and its in there pretty good i tell ya. Anyone run into this before and was painting it your only option??

And why he didnt firstly ask me, and secondly test it on a part of it is beyond me.

Just got the OEM crossbars and I'm looking for something to put down between the feet and the roof, as I've heard they can cause damage to the paint over time. I've been all over the place looking for some type of thick 3M film to use with no luck. Anyone have recommendations? I'm looking for the same kind of thing that comes with the hood deflector to put between the paint and mounting hooks.

I took mine to an automotive tint shop and they applied some paint protection film (clear bra) in those spots. I had tried doing it myself (but it turned out like crap because I just don't have the skills for it) using the following: http://www.lamin-x.com/Roof-Rack-Pai...ion-p/rr-8.htm

Overall it seemed like a good product, I just sucked at using it.

I have the same problem.
Fairing actually made it worse.. Im guessing that its pushing more air into my snowboard rack which is causing a whistling..
im just trying to ignore/live with it.

I used blue masking tape. We'll see how well it protects in a few weeks.

No advice other than a wrap, sticker bomb, or light sand and poly-paint it. Or another note it's sick to see someone else with the old school fairing! I love mine and think it makes the lines look so much cleaner than the new "snowboard" style.

Fairing...but get used to it. The snowboard attachment adds noise. Period. Throw some boards up there with the bindings in the wind and it's inevitable. Turn your radio volume up. Fixed! :-)

I've got the older style Thule fairing that's similar to the one a few posts back. No matter what fits I have I get zero noise. I use two Yakima vipers and a lift ticket in winter. Other than a mpg hit, all I get is an occasional pull in windy areas.
